Automating consistent communication
During our recent hackathon, the whole team set out to develop an innovative product within a single working day. The result is an AI bot that ensures a consistent tone of voice across all company communication, such as emails, newsletters and blogs.
Purpose
The aim of the hackathon was to apply every discipline we encounter in our work to an innovative product. That means exploring possible solutions, conceptualisation, design, development and deployment: from idea to concept, through to realisation.
Outcome
The result is a bot trained on source material from the company in question. The user can enter their own text (for example an email, blog or social media post), after which the bot rewrites it in the tone of voice it has learned.

Step 1: choosing the right GenAI tool
Our hackathon began with an important phase: choosing the right Generative AI (GenAI) tool. The team, made up of colleagues with different technical backgrounds, set out to research the options. Everyone was tasked with testing a specific technology and preparing a test case. Within an hour we had compared a broad range of tools, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) models and CustomGPTs. After careful evaluation, we chose a RAG model because of its robust capabilities and consistent performance.
Design and implementation
Once the model was chosen, we got to work designing the AI bot. While some focused on developing the frontend, others worked on the backend and set up a server with the chosen RAG model. The goal was clear: to create an AI app capable of converting any text into a uniform tone of voice that suits the company's identity.
The results
By the end of the day we had a working prototype. The prototype demonstrated how texts could be quickly and effectively adjusted to match the desired tone of voice. This was not only a technical achievement, but also an example of how collaboration and innovation go hand in hand at Appfront.
Next steps
This solution is more than the end result of a hackathon; it is a promising application of AI-driven content creation. We now have a solid first version and plan to develop it further. The next steps include refining the technology, adding more advanced features, and incorporating feedback from our clients to make the tool even better.
