Transport & logistics Custom API integration eCMR & tracking

Custom TransFollow integration development

Appfront integrates your TMS, ERP or WMS with the TransFollow platform so that digital consignment notes, proof-of-delivery documents and transport missions are created and updated automatically. Through the official Connect API, we link your logistics systems to eCMR documentation and real-time tracking, with no manual data entry and no paperwork.

What is TransFollow?

TransFollow is a digital logistics platform for creating, signing and managing transport documents. The platform replaces paper consignment notes with legally valid eCMR documents and gives you real-time visibility into the status and location of shipments throughout the entire transport process.

Through TransFollow Connect, the platform's REST API, TMS, ERP and WMS systems can automatically create transport missions, generate eCMR documents, retrieve proofs of delivery and read GPS positions. This removes the need for manual data entry and gives all parties involved (shipper, carrier and consignee) the same up-to-date picture.

Appfront builds custom integrations with the TransFollow Connect API that fit seamlessly into your existing logistics processes. We align document types, synchronisation frequency and status flows with how your transport chain actually operates.

Digital consignment notes

Certified eCMR documents, ePOD proofs of delivery and Lieferscheine are created automatically from your TMS or ERP. Legally valid and immediately shareable with all supply chain partners.

Real-time tracking

GPS positions of shipments are streamed live to your systems. You always know where a transport is and when delivery is expected.

Compliance & certification

TransFollow is ISO 27001 certified and complies with the UN/CEFACT eCMR protocol. Documents are internationally legally valid in NL, BE, DE and FR.

Our development process for TransFollow integrations

From mapping your transport flows to a working integration in production, every step is focused on an integration that runs reliably in day-to-day operations. We keep the process clear and involve your logistics and IT teams at the right moments.

1
Transport analysis

We map your transport flows: which document types (eCMR, ePOD, CdP) are used, which routes, which supply chain partners, and how data currently flows through your TMS or ERP.

2
API architecture

We design the integration architecture based on the TransFollow Connect API, set up authentication and webhooks, and define the synchronisation strategy.

3
Development & testing

Implementation in the TransFollow sandbox environment, automated tests for document creation and status flows, and monitoring for error handling across the chain.

4
Go-live & management

Controlled go-live with validation using real shipments, driver onboarding on the mobile app, and ongoing management with proactive monitoring.

What a TransFollow integration delivers in practice

Every integration is tailored specifically to your logistics processes. Below are the features we most often build for organisations that want to connect TransFollow with their operational systems.

eCMR & document management

Digital consignment notes and proofs of delivery are created automatically as soon as a transport order is registered in your TMS or ERP. Signing, status updates and archiving run fully digitally via the TransFollow platform.

Real-time tracking

GPS positions and ETA estimates of shipments are forwarded to your systems via webhooks. Your planners and customers can see at any time where a transport is, without phoning or emailing.

TMS/ERP integration

Transport orders from your TMS or ERP are automatically converted into TransFollow missions. Status changes (loaded, en route, delivered) flow back to the source system, so all parties work from the same data.

Driver onboarding

New drivers are invited to the TransFollow Drive app via the API. They receive their transport missions on mobile, sign eCMR documents digitally and register delivery, including photo evidence.

Status notifications

Webhooks from TransFollow Messenger trigger notifications in your systems with every status change: mission accepted, loaded, en route, delivered or refused. Your operation responds to deviations in real time.

Reporting & analytics

Transport data from TransFollow is combined with operational data in dashboards or BI tools. Think delivery times per route, documentation speed, deviation rates and cost per consignment.

Typical use cases in practice

A TransFollow integration looks quite different depending on your role in the transport chain. We regularly see a few common patterns, and for each we have a proven approach.

Transport companies

A carrier running dozens of journeys a day cannot afford to prepare consignment notes by hand. We integrate your TMS with TransFollow so that eCMR documents are created automatically at planning stage, signed by the driver via the app, and proof-of-delivery records flow straight back into your administration. Shippers & consignors

As a shipper, you want to know where your goods are without relying on phone updates from the carrier. An integration between your ERP and TransFollow gives you real-time visibility into the progress of every shipment, including GPS tracking and automatic delivery confirmation as soon as the recipient signs.

3PL logistics

Third-party logistics providers manage transports for several clients at once. With a TransFollow integration, your WMS generates the correct documentation per client, proof-of-delivery records are linked automatically to the right order, and clients can track the status of their shipments through their own portal.

Construction & installation

Construction and installation companies deal with material deliveries to changing sites, often against tight schedules. A TransFollow integration ensures delivery documents are generated automatically per project, lets drivers get signatures digitally on site, and sends proof-of-delivery records straight back to project administration.

Technology we use

We build TransFollow integrations on modern, easy-to-maintain stacks. The TransFollow Connect API is REST-based with JSON payloads and OAuth authentication, which makes it well suited to robust integrations that scale with your transport volume.

Why choose Appfront for your TransFollow integration?

Appfront has experience building logistics integrations for hauliers, shippers and 3PL providers in the Netherlands. We understand that in the transport chain there is no room for downtime: a consignment note that is unavailable at the moment of loading costs your operation money straight away.

That is why we build integrations with built-in error handling, retry mechanisms and clear monitoring. If something goes wrong, you know immediately, not only when a driver phones to say he cannot leave.

With every integration, we deliver clear documentation so that your own IT team, or a future supplier, can understand and manage the integration. No black box, just transparent code and clear agreements.

Security and compliance in TransFollow integrations

Transport documents contain commercially sensitive information: loading details, routes, recipient addresses and sometimes personal data of drivers. TransFollow is ISO 27001 certified and complies with the GDPR. Appfront builds integrations that meet the same standards.

Authentication runs via OAuth 2.0. We minimise the scope of the data exchanged, encrypt sensitive information both in transit and at rest, and document all data flows so that your record of processing activities stays up to date. eCMR documents are processed in line with the UN/CEFACT protocol.

More about our approach: information security policy and vulnerability disclosure policy.

  • GDPR-compliant data processing
  • ISO 27001-certified platform (TransFollow)
  • eCMR protocol compliance (UN/CEFACT)
  • Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest

Frequently asked questions about TransFollow integrations

Answers to the questions we are asked most often about custom TransFollow integrations.

A TransFollow integration is a technical link that lets your TMS, ERP or WMS communicate automatically with the TransFollow platform. Using the Connect REST API, digital consignment notes (eCMR), proofs of delivery and transport missions can be created, updated and retrieved without manual input.

An eCMR is the digital version of the CMR consignment note, the standard document for international road transport. TransFollow provides certified eCMR documents that are legally equivalent to paper consignment notes. Benefits include no paper administration, real-time status updates, faster handling on delivery and demonstrable compliance.

Any system with API or database access can be integrated. In practice, we connect TransFollow to transport management systems (TMS), ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics or Exact, warehouse management systems (WMS), and bespoke logistics applications. TransFollow's Connect API is REST-based, which makes integration possible with virtually any modern stack.

A basic integration for creating and retrieving eCMR documents can be operational within two to four weeks. More extensive integrations with bidirectional synchronisation, GPS tracking, webhooks for status updates and driver onboarding typically take four to eight weeks. After an initial consultation, we provide a concrete timeline.

Costs depend on the number of data flows, the complexity of your transport processes, the number of connected systems and the level of automation you want. We always provide a clear quote based on a no-obligation analysis of your situation, so you know exactly what to expect upfront.
