Infringements followed up with the driver Driving times, working hours and pay together Planning with remaining driving time

Custom tachograph analysis and driving time software

Appfront builds the office side of tachograph analysis for transport operators: data read from driver cards and vehicles processed into infringements per driver, which are discussed and signed off; driving times alongside working hours and timesheet administration for payroll; trends per driver and per department; and remaining driving time as input for planning. Reading and checking the files themselves is described on our page about the tachograph analysis app; this page covers what the office does with that data.

What is tachograph analysis and driving time software?

A transport operator must regularly read out and store tachograph data from driver cards and vehicles, and check it against the rules on driving and rest times. Many companies already have that reading and checking under control. What follows is the work of the office: discussing an infringement with the driver, comparing driving times with working hours and pay, and having the planning calculate what a driver is still allowed to drive.

In many companies it stops at an infringement report that circulates by email. Whether an infringement has been discussed with the driver is recorded nowhere. Hours recorded for pay come from a different system and differ from the tachograph. The planner doesn't know how much driving time a driver has left this week. And during an inspection, the company must demonstrate that it follows up on infringements.

We build custom solutions because the processing has to fit your business: which read-out solution you use, which collective agreement and arrangements on working hours and pay apply, how you discuss infringements, which planning you use, and which reporting management wants. The rules on driving and rest times are fixed; how you apply them in your business is the work.

Infringement followed up

A conversation, an explanation and a sign-off by the driver for each infringement, so that it is demonstrably followed up by the company.

Driving time, working hours and pay

Driving times from the tachograph alongside working hours and hours recorded for pay, with differences visible before payroll is processed.

Planning with remaining driving time

How much more a driver is allowed to drive this week and today, as input for the planner.

How we build your tachograph analysis and driving time software

We start with your read-out: which solution, how many drivers, what currently happens with an infringement, and how the tachograph and payroll hours relate.

1
Read-out and processes mapped

Your read-out solution, drivers, collective agreement and arrangements, the follow-up of infringements, pay and planning.

2
Data and infringements

The read data imported, infringements per driver, and follow-up through conversation and sign-off.

3
Working hours and pay

Driving times alongside working hours and recorded hours, and data sent to payroll administration.

4
Planning and reporting

Remaining driving time to planning, trends and reporting, and then maintenance.

What tachograph analysis and driving time software actually does

The components below appear in almost every transport operator. Which ones you need depends on your business.

Import

Data from your read-out solution, per driver and vehicle.

Infringements

Infringements of driving and rest times per driver, with severity and date.

Follow-up

Conversation, explanation and sign-off by the driver, recorded for each infringement.

Working hours

Driving times alongside recorded hours, with differences shown.

Planning

Remaining driving time per driver for planning.

Trends

Infringements per driver, department and period, for targeted improvement.

Who we build tachograph analysis and driving time software for

This software is designed for hauliers who have arranged the data download, but not the follow-up.

Transport companies

Many drivers and journeys. Follow-up and planning are at the heart of it.

Companies with their own lorries

Transport alongside your core business. Working hours and pay matter most.

Coach companies

Drivers on rotating shifts. Remaining driving time is what you need.

Rental companies with drivers

Drivers working at client sites. The file per driver is at the heart of it.

Why choose Appfront for your tachograph analysis and driving time software?

An infringement that isn't discussed comes back. That's what we build on: follow-up that is recorded, driving time and pay that add up, and planning that knows what is still possible.

Demonstrable follow-up

Every infringement is discussed and signed off. When an inspection comes, the file is ready.

Pay that adds up

Differences between the tachograph and time registration are flagged before payroll processing.

Planning without infringements

The planner sees how much driving time a driver has left and schedules within it.

Security and privacy for tachograph analysis and driving time software

The software processes driver data, including driving times, infringements and hours. Access is set up by role: the driver sees their own file, the planner the remaining driving time, and the HR department the follow-up.

The software runs in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily back-ups. A system that can be used to monitor employee behaviour falls under the works council's right of consent (Article 27 WOR); discuss it in advance.

Frequently asked questions about tachograph analysis and driving time software

Questions transport providers ask before they start.

It processes the downloaded data into infringements per driver, records follow-up through discussion and sign-off, places driving times alongside working hours and time registration, supplies data to payroll administration, and gives the planning the remaining driving time.

The app is about downloading, storing and checking the data. This software is about what the office does next: follow-up, working hours, pay and planning. The two work together, or this software reads from a different download solution.

For most transport, the European rules on driving and rest times apply, along with the rules on working hours and the terms of your collective labour agreement. Establish what applies to your transport with your adviser or trade association.

Yes, in the app or in a portal, with an explanation if they wish to give one.

Yes, if that system allows it. Hours and allowances go to payroll administration, after differences with the tachograph have been checked.

Yes. The remaining driving time per driver feeds into your planning, so the planner can see what is still possible without an infringement.

Ask that first. Many solutions for reading out data produce reports of infringements, and that is enough if you only want to know what went wrong. Custom development makes sense if you want to record the follow-up, place driving times alongside pay, or have the planning calculate the remaining driving time.
