Custom software for allocating kilometre costs from the truck toll
Since 1 July 2026, lorries in the Netherlands pay per kilometre driven on the roads covered by the lorry levy. The rate depends on the lorry's weight and emission class. The invoice comes from your service provider, per vehicle and period, but the costs belong to trips, customers and orders. Appfront builds software that allocates the levy to the trip it belongs to, so you can pass it on and your post-calculation is accurate.
What is software for allocating kilometre costs from the lorry levy?
From 1 July 2026, the lorry toll applies to lorries on Dutch motorways and a number of other roads. You pay per kilometre driven, and the rate depends on the lorry's maximum mass, its CO2 emission class and sometimes its Euro emission class. The toll is collected through a service provider, using an on-board unit in the cab that records the kilometres driven.
The service provider's invoice covers vehicles and periods. A transport company invoices per trip, customer or order. There is a gap in between: which kilometres on toll roads belong to which trip, and therefore to which customer. Without allocation, the toll becomes a general cost item, or a fixed percentage on the invoice that does not match the actual trips. Customers increasingly ask for supporting detail.
We build custom software because companies differ: which service provider, which TMS or trip registration system, how customers are invoiced, and whether costs are passed on per trip, per kilometre or as a surcharge. We look at which data your service provider supplies and in what format in the first step, together with you.

How we build your software for allocating lorry toll kilometre costs
We start with your administration: which service provider, which data it supplies, which system keeps track of trips, and how you want to pass on costs. We often begin by importing the service provider's data and linking it to trips, because that shows how much can be allocated correctly. Passing on costs on the invoice, checking for discrepancies and reporting follow. That way you quickly see what the toll really costs per customer.

Who we build software for allocating lorry toll kilometre costs for
The software is intended for companies that pay the lorry toll and want to allocate or pass it on. The more trips and customers, the more it delivers.
Transport companies
Many customers. Passing on costs matters most.
Shippers with their own transport
Costs per order. Post-calculation is the core.
Logistics service providers
Trips for multiple customers. Splitting costs matters.
Charterers
Hired transport. Checking the toll matters.

Why Appfront for your software for allocating lorry toll kilometre costs?
A toll that is booked as a general cost item, or passed on as a fixed percentage, makes post-calculation unreliable and is hard to explain to a customer. That is what we build on: toll per trip, costs passed on with supporting detail, and discrepancies that show up immediately.
Per trip
Costs where they belong.
Substantiated
Explanation with the invoice.
Checked
Discrepancies flagged.
Security and privacy for software for allocating lorry toll kilometre costs
The software processes data on vehicles, trips, locations and customers, and, through the trips, sometimes on drivers. Access is set up per role, location data is used only for the allocation, and every change is logged.
The software runs in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily backups. We document the processing in a data processing agreement.
Frequently asked questions about software for allocating truck toll costs per kilometre
Questions haulage companies ask before getting started.
The truck toll is a charge per kilometre driven for lorries on Dutch motorways and a number of other roads. It applies from 1 July 2026. The rate depends on the lorry's maximum mass, its CO2 emission class and, in some cases, its Euro emission class.
The service provider invoices you per vehicle and period, but you invoice per trip, customer or order. Without allocation, you don't know what the toll costs for a customer or trip, and passing it on becomes guesswork.
From your service provider, who records the kilometres driven and the toll per vehicle, and from your own trip registration or TMS. The software puts the two side by side. Which data your service provider supplies and how, we look at in the first step.
Yes. The toll per trip or order appears as a separate line or surcharge on the invoice, in the way you have agreed with the customer. If the customer asks for supporting evidence, it is ready per trip.
Then the software flags it. A vehicle with toll on a day without trips, or a trip on the motorway without toll, ends up in an overview for review, so you spot errors at the service provider or in the trip registration in good time.
Yes. For subcontracted transport, the software checks the toll the carrier passes on against the trips that were actually driven. That way you never pay more than what belongs to your trips.
Check that first. Some TMS suppliers build in support for the toll. Custom software makes sense if your TMS doesn't import the service provider's data, if you pass costs on differently per customer, or if you want to check what is being invoiced.
