Custom app for commission settlement with sales agents
Appfront builds apps for manufacturers, importers and wholesalers who work with commercial agents: per agent, the agreement covering territory, customers, commission rates and terms; commission calculated from orders, invoices and payments in the ERP; corrections for credit notes and unpaid invoices; a settlement per period that the agent can check; and a portal where the agent sees their orders and commission. So the settlement isn't a monthly spreadsheet, and an agent doesn't have to ask where their commission is.
What is an app for commission settlement with commercial agents?
A manufacturer selling through commercial agents pays each agent commission on orders in their territory or with their customers. The agreement determines how much, on which products, and when the commission becomes due: on the order, on the invoice, or only on payment. The agent is entitled to a statement showing how their commission was calculated. A commission settlement app works this out from the actual orders and produces that statement.
Without such an app, someone in the back office runs an export from the ERP every period, looks up which agent belongs to each line, applies the percentages and corrects for credit notes. A customer who switches territory causes disputes. An agent who cannot check their settlement calls. And when commission is disputed, it has to be reconstructed which orders were ever included.
We build custom solutions because the settlement must match your agents and your systems: how many agents you have and in which countries, how territories and customers are divided, which percentages and tiers apply, when commission becomes due, which ERP holds your orders and invoices, and how you pay out. An ERP knows orders and invoices; the arrangements with your agents often it does not.
From actual orders
Commission calculated from orders, invoices or payments in the ERP, assigned to the agent based on territory, customer or product group.
Ready to check
A settlement per period with the breakdown per order, so the agent sees what commission they receive and why.
Corrections processed
Credit notes, returns and unpaid invoices offset according to the agreement, including advances and previous settlements.
How we build your app for commission settlement with commercial agents
We start with your latest settlement: how many agents, how many order lines, how many corrections, and what questions agents asked about it.
Your agents and agreements, territories, customers and product groups, rates and terms, and your ERP and payment process.
Recording the arrangements per agent, and the rules that assign orders to agents.
Commission from orders, invoices or payments, corrections, advances, and the settlement per period.
The portal for agents, approval and payment, integration with ERP and accounting, and ongoing management afterwards.
What an app for commission settlement with commercial agents actually does
The components below come up with almost every principal working with commercial agents. Which ones you need depends on the number of agents and your agreements.
Agency agreements
For each agent, the territory, customers, product groups, percentages, tiered rates and the point at which commission becomes payable.
Allocation
Orders and invoices assigned to the agent by territory, customer or product group, with exceptions you define.
Calculation
Commission per order line in line with the agreement, based on order, invoice or payment.
Corrections
Credit notes, returns, unpaid invoices and advances offset in the next settlement.
Settlement
A settlement per agent and period with supporting detail per order, approved and ready for payment.
Agent portal
The agent sees their orders, commission and settlements, and can raise a query on any line.
For whom we build a commission settlement app for commercial agents
The app is designed for principals who currently calculate commission each period in a spreadsheet.
Manufacturers with agents abroad
Agents by country, each with their own terms. The agreements and assignment are the core.
Importers
Agents by region and product group. The calculation and corrections matter most.
Wholesalers
High volumes of order lines and credit notes. Offsetting and supporting detail are what you need.
Fashion and furniture brands
Agents with showrooms and seasonal orders. Settlement per season and the portal are the core.

Why choose Appfront for your commission settlement app for commercial agents?
An agent who doesn't trust their commission will sell with less conviction. That's what we build on: commission drawn from actual orders, a settlement that can be checked line by line, and less manual work in the back office.
No spreadsheets
The settlement follows from the orders and the agreement. The back office checks rather than calculates.
Fewer questions
The agent sees for each order what commission they earn. Queries concern exceptions, not everything.
Recorded in the event of a dispute
Which orders were included and which corrections were made is fixed for each settlement.
Security and privacy for a commission settlement app for commercial agents
The app holds orders, customers, revenue per agent and commission terms, which is commercially sensitive data. Access is set by role: the agent sees only their own orders and settlements, the back office sees everything, and finance handles approval and payment. Every change to an agreement is logged with name and time.
The app runs in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily backups. The ERP integration uses its own keys, which can be revoked.
Frequently asked questions about a commission settlement app for commercial agents
Questions principals ask before getting started.
It records the agreement for each agent, assigns orders by territory, customer or product group, calculates commission from orders, invoices or payments, offsets credit notes and advances, produces a settlement with supporting detail per order, and presents it in a portal for the agent.
That page is about the agency receiving commission from several principals. This app is for the principal who pays commission to their agents.
The Dutch Civil Code contains rules for commercial agency, including when commission is due and the statement the principal provides to the agent. What applies to your agreements is for you to establish with your adviser; the app calculates and reports according to what you record.
Yes. For each agreement you record whether commission is due on order, invoice or payment. Unpaid invoices are offset in a subsequent settlement.
Yes. Each agent has their own terms, currency and language for settlement.
Yes, provided the ERP makes orders, invoices and payments available. We will review which ERP you use and how in the first step.
Ask this first. Some ERPs have a commission module, and that is sufficient if you have a few agents with simple percentages. Custom development makes sense if you have many agents with different terms, if commission only becomes due on payment, or if agents want to view their own settlement.
A commission statement that the agent can check for themselves?
Tell us how many agents you have, which terms apply and how you currently settle. We will show you what the calculation, the settlement and the portal look like.
