Pipeline & conversion Revenue by channel Forecast reporting

Custom sales analytics software development

Appfront builds custom sales analytics software: pipeline and conversion by stage, revenue by channel, customer segment and account manager, and forecast reporting that is based on the same figures as your accounts. We pull data from your CRM, ERP and webshop, bring it onto one common basis and make it visible where deals are getting stuck. Built for organisations that currently have to piece together their sales figures from separate exports and spreadsheets.

What is sales analytics software?

Sales analytics software brings your sales data together and turns it into management information. Where deals sit in the pipeline, how many fall away at each stage, which channels and customer segments generate revenue, and how the forecast compares with actual results. The data rarely comes from a single system: the CRM holds the deals, the ERP or accounting package holds invoiced revenue, and the webshop holds the orders. Without a layer that brings this onto one common basis, every department talks about different numbers.

Standard CRM reporting assumes an average sales process. In practice, things vary considerably: the number of stages, what counts as a qualified lead, how you handle renewals and multi-year contracts, and how revenue is attributed to an account manager. Custom reporting calculates according to your definitions, so the figures match what management actually means and there is no debate about who is right.

This page is about making existing sales figures accessible and analysing them. If you want to look ahead with predictive models, see predictive analytics or AI lead scoring. If you need the sales system itself, custom CRM is the place to start.

One source of truth

CRM, ERP and webshop on one common basis, so sales, finance and the board no longer sit around the table with different numbers.

Your definitions

You set out what a qualified lead is and how revenue is attributed. The reporting then applies these consistently.

Down to the line item

From a figure that looks off, click through to the underlying deals and invoices, so every number can always be traced back.

How we build your sales analytics software

We start with the questions management actually needs answered and work back from there to the data. This avoids a dashboard full of charts that nobody uses to make a decision. Your sales manager, controller and CRM administrator are involved from the discovery phase onwards.

1
Discovery & definitions

We record which questions need answering and how you define pipeline, conversion, revenue and forecast. This is where most disagreement arises, and no dashboard can resolve it after the fact.

2
Data model & integration

We determine which sources are needed, how they are linked together, and how we handle duplicates, currencies and later corrections. We also set out how often the data is refreshed.

3
Build & iteration

We build in short iterations, always using real data from your systems. You check the outcomes against what you already know, because a dashboard that miscalculates a familiar figure on first use will never be trusted again.

4
Go-live & maintenance

A controlled go-live, with checks that the figures reconcile with your accounts, followed by maintenance, monitoring and extension as the sales organisation changes.

What sales analytics software does in practice

Which reporting matters most varies from organisation to organisation. Below is what we most often deliver for teams that want to steer by their sales figures.

Pipeline and conversion

Deals per stage, time spent per stage and where most of the drop-off happens. This shows you not only whether the pipeline is too thin, but also where it leaks.

Revenue by dimension

Revenue by channel, customer segment, product and account manager, compared with previous periods and with target.

Forecast reporting

The team's forecast alongside actual results, with a view of how reliable earlier forecasts turned out to be. That makes the forecast conversation more concrete.

Targets and progress

Targets per team, per person or per region, with progress tracked throughout the period rather than only at the end.

Drill down to the source

Every figure traces back to the underlying deals, orders or invoices. Any discrepancy can be investigated rather than disputed.

Alerts

Notifications for deals that have stalled for too long, customers with declining revenue, or a forecast that is drifting too far from actual results.

Who we build sales analytics software for

The questions differ by type of sales organisation. For each we build reporting that fits how that organisation sells.

B2B with long sales cycles

Where a deal runs for months and several people are involved, the focus is on time per stage and on visibility into where deals stall.

Organisations with multiple channels

Direct sales, dealers, webshop and marketplaces side by side, with the question of which channel genuinely contributes after deducting costs and returns.

Subscription and contract models

Where revenue comes from renewals and upsells, and where cancellations count just as heavily as new customers.

Revenue operations and control

Teams that want sales, marketing and finance working from the same figures and need reporting they can stand behind.

Technology and integrations

We build with a modern, maintainable web stack and integrate with the systems where your sales data lives. In practice, that means a CRM, an ERP or accounting package and often a webshop or marketplace integration. Which integrations are available depends on the package, so we check this during discovery before promising anything. You can read more about bringing data sources together on our data integration page.

Why choose Appfront for your sales analytics software?

We build custom software with our own team, without vendor lock-in. You remain the owner of your software and your data.

Our own team

Design and build happen in-house. You speak with the people who actually make your software.

No vendor lock-in

The code and the data belong to you. No closed reporting platform you can't get out of.

Figures that add up

We check the outputs against what you already know during the build. Reconciliation with your accounts is a requirement, not an extra.

Growing with you

A new channel, a different regional structure or an acquisition: the reporting adapts without you having to start over.

Security and privacy in sales analytics software

Sales data carries two sensitivities at once: personal data of contact persons and commercially confidential figures on margins, customers and employee performance. Both call for careful setup, even though special category personal data is not involved.

We set permissions by role and by territory, so an account manager sees their own figures and not those of colleagues, unless you decide otherwise. Performance figures per employee are sensitive for works councils; we therefore record who may view them and log that access. We only move data where reporting requires it, and it is stored in the Netherlands or elsewhere in the EU.

Frequently asked questions about sales analytics software

Answers to the questions we are asked most often about custom sales analytics.

Sales analytics software brings together sales data from your CRM, ERP and webshop and turns it into management information: pipeline and conversion per stage, revenue per channel, customer group and account manager, and the forecast alongside actual results. For custom builds, the software works with your own definitions of a qualified lead, of revenue and of attribution, so the figures match what your management means.

For some questions, that is perfectly adequate. It becomes a problem once the figures have to come from several systems, as the CRM knows the deals but not the invoiced revenue, returns or corrections. It also falls short when your sales process differs from what the package assumes, for example with renewals, multi-year contracts or shared attribution between account managers. Standard reporting simply won't cover those cases.

By making reconciliation the starting point rather than the final step. We agree up front which source is authoritative for each type of figure, how we handle retrospective corrections, credit notes and currencies, and throughout the build we check against figures you already know. Every number in the reporting can also be traced back to the underlying deals or invoices, so any discrepancy can be investigated.

This page is about extracting and analysing figures that already exist, including placing the forecast alongside actual results. For predictive models, such as estimating the likelihood that a deal will close, please see our pages on predictive analytics and AI lead scoring. In practice, a reliable data foundation is always the first step.

We determine this together, and it depends on where the data comes from. For most management questions, a nightly refresh is sufficient; for a pipeline that changes throughout the day, more frequent updates may be worthwhile. More important than the frequency is that it is clear where the figures come from and when they were retrieved, so nobody looks at outdated data without knowing it.

We build custom solutions. Sales organisations differ in their stages, definitions, channels and the way revenue is attributed, and it is precisely these differences that determine whether reporting is useful. After an intake meeting, we decide together which questions matter most and the order in which we build.
