What exactly is a Proof-of-Delivery app?
A PoD app is software that captures digital proof at the moment of delivery: signature, photo, geofence stamp, scan and, where needed, an OTP code or ID check. That proof travels with the consignment into your TMS, ERP and invoicing. If a dispute arises, the audit trail is complete: who received what, where and when, and you can share it directly with the customer or carrier.
Do you replace the PostNL Bezorg app or Track-POD?
No. For commodity last-mile delivery, a standard package is almost always the cheaper and better choice. We build a custom PoD app when your sector needs something specific, such as prescription PoD for pharmacies, ID checks for alcohol, handover protocols for containers, or white-label for 3PLs, or when you want deep integration with your TMS, ERP and accounting that a standard app does not provide.
eCMR: when will the digital consignment note become mandatory?
The EU directive on mandatory eCMR acceptance is being introduced in stages, and earlier legislation has already set the framework. Member States are implementing it at their own pace, but the direction is clear: digital consignment notes are becoming the norm across the chain. We build eCMR support in as standard, so you are ready as soon as your shippers ask for it, whether that is next quarter or a few sprints later on the roadmap.
Does the app work offline in basements, car parks or at sea?
Yes. Offline mode is not an option but the starting point. The courier can scan, photograph and collect signatures without a connection; the data is stored locally in encrypted form and syncs automatically once signal returns. The geofence and timestamp are locked at the moment of scanning, so the evidence remains reliable, even if the upload happens an hour later. For sea freight and international transport with long offline windows, we build resync logic that detects conflicts and uploads only the evidence not yet known to the back office.
Do you run AI fraud detection on PoD photos?
Yes, as an optional component. An AI model can check whether the photo actually shows a parcel, or whether there is an empty doorstep, a wrong front door or a reused photo from an earlier stop. Under the EU AI Act such a model may require a risk classification; we document the governance and keep human validation in the loop before any PoD is rejected on the basis of an AI flag.
Can you integrate with Transwide, Centric or another TMS?
Yes. We build the PoD app alongside your TMS and integrate via API, EDI or a middleware layer, depending on what your TMS offers. For Transwide, Centric, Webfleet and similar systems we have established patterns. For in-house or legacy TMS, we build case by case; this requires more planning time but prevents integration debt later. See also our
AI in transport page for context on data flow.
What determines the cost of a custom PoD app?
Three main drivers: the number of shipment types with differing flows (pharmacy + construction + last-mile is more work than last-mile alone), the depth of TMS and ERP integration, and compliance requirements (eCMR, GDP, AI Act reporting). We work with a fixed sprint budget and, after the planning phase, give you a concrete price for the complete build, with no open-ended engagement. We handle maintenance and further development on a fixed monthly fee, so you don't need a new quote for every small change.
Which segments do you build PoD apps for?
We build for parcel and e-commerce couriers, B2B transport of pallets and machinery, removal companies, building materials suppliers, cold-chain and pharma distribution, landfill sites and weighbridge flows, container terminals for export and import handover, pharmacy delivery with prescription PoD, vehicle transport, and distribution centres that want an inbound PoD on deliveries. What these segments have in common: the proof is more than just a scribble. There is a protocol around it that a commodity app does not understand.
How do we make sure our drivers embrace the system?
In sprint one, we ride along with a planner and a driver. Their input shapes the flow. At handover, there are short training sessions at the depot and a written manual. We find that hauliers who involve their drivers from the start think along, and within a few sprints handle all stops through the system. The exceptions that remain are precisely the cases where manual work is justified.
How does GDPR apply to ID scanning for alcohol or medication deliveries?
We minimise what we record. For an ID check for age verification or medication handover, we do not store the full document, only the outcome of the check: an age flag, birth year, and possibly a hash. The ID document is not retained on the device. As standard, we deliver a DPIA and retention settings per shipment type, and we align with your processor agreements.
