Custom wealth management platform development.

A custom wealth management platform for asset managers, family offices and private banking, from client onboarding and portfolio management to performance reporting and compliance. We build where Bloomberg AIM, Avaloq and Aladdin don't fit or aren't affordable.

Portfolio managementMiFID IIClient portalDORA register

A wealth management platform is much more than a portfolio overview.

Wealth management brings dozens of workflows together in one system: KYC and suitability assessments at onboarding, portfolio construction and rebalancing, order routing to custodians, performance attribution, tax reporting and MiFID II reporting. All of it has to be correct, because any error directly affects client assets or compliance.

We build platforms for wealth managers, family offices, fund managers, independent financial planners, pension administrators and digital wealth platforms (robo-advisors). Not a black-box package that only half fits, but an environment that fits your investment process, mandate structure and regulatory context. For enterprise asset managers, we don't replace Bloomberg AIM or Aladdin; we build the specific components the package doesn't cover, such as a custom client portal, a tax engine for the Dutch market, or a consolidation layer across multiple custodians.

The market beneath us, including Van Lanschot Kempen, Insinger Gilissen and ABN AMRO MeesPierson, relies heavily on private banking packages. The market above us, such as Robeco and BlackRock, builds in-house. In between sits a group for whom off-the-shelf doesn't work and building internally is too expensive: mid-market asset managers, single- and multi-family offices, alternatives fund managers, and robo-advisors who want to keep control of the client experience. That's our sweet spot.

Three flavours of wealth management platform.

Depending on the type of wealth manager and the scope of your investment services. We advise on which variant suits you in the first conversation. The value often lies in the combination of a client portal, an adviser cockpit and a sound compliance overlay.

What you get at the end.

A production-ready wealth management platform with the building blocks you need to stay compliant, scalable and client-focused.

Just as important, you get ownership. The codebase, the architecture, the decisions — everything stays with you. No lock-in to a proprietary stack you can't escape from in three years.

  • The platform itselfProduction and staging environments in your cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure) or in our managed EU environment. Encryption at rest and in transit, segregated tenants.
  • Client portal + adviser cockpitA branded client portal with portfolio overview and document vault, plus a 360° cockpit for your advisers and compliance officer.
  • Compliance overlayMiFID II suitability and appropriateness, 10% drop notices, GDPR logging, AFM/DNB audit trail, and a DORA register for your ICT suppliers.
  • Integration layerFIX routing to custodians/brokers, data feeds from Refinitiv or FactSet, and integration with your CRM, accounting and KYC provider.
  • Codebase + architecture documentationFull source code, build instructions, deployment runbook and an architecture overview your own IT team can understand.
  • Operational management (optional)Monitoring, security patches, further development based on regulatory updates and client feedback. Fixed monthly fee, tiered response times.

When custom is the right choice.

For true enterprise asset managers, at the level of Robeco or BlackRock, we don't replace Aladdin or Bloomberg AIM. In the patterns below, however, clients deliberately choose custom software.

Mid-market wealth management

Enterprise package doesn't fit

Avaloq, Charles River or Bloomberg AIM is too broad, too expensive or too heavy for your 5 to 50 staff. You need 60% of the functionality, not 100% — and exactly your workflow.

Family office

Distinctive administrative structure

A single- or multi-family office with multiple entities, generations of beneficiaries and cross-border tax obligations. Standard packages force you into their data model; custom software follows yours.

Client portal gap

Aladdin / AIM has no front end for your clients

Your enterprise PMS runs perfectly internally, but the client portal is an afterthought. We build the client layer (real-time portfolio, communication, document vault) on top of your existing stack.

Digital-first / robo-adviser

White-label wealth platform

You're launching a digital investment proposition and want your own brand, client journey and onboarding — not the derivative UX of a SaaS vendor.

Integration layer

Five to seven systems that don't talk to each other

PMS, reconciliation, reporting, onboarding, tax, custody and CRM live in separate silos. We build the overarching workflow and data layer so that one source holds the truth.

Pension and foundation management

Specific regulation

Pension providers and foundations with their own investment policy, BIO requirements or fiduciary mandate structures that no mainstream PMS covers well.

The building blocks of a wealth management platform.

A platform is always a combination of the blocks below. Which ones you need depends on your licence, your mandate structure and how far you rely on existing packages. We build them standalone, integrated, or as an addition to your existing PMS.

Onboarding

KYC, Wwft & suitability

Digital client onboarding with identification (iDIN, eIDAS, or a specialist KYC provider), Wwft checks, MiFID II suitability and appropriateness assessments, risk profile determination and recording of investment objectives. Full audit trail for every step.

Portfolio management

Construction, mandates & rebalancing

Portfolio construction per mandate template, automatic or adviser-initiated rebalancing on drift or time triggers, model portfolios with deviation tracking, and mandate-level cash management for inflows and outflows.

Order management

OMS with FIX routing

Aggregation of orders across mandates, pre-trade compliance checks (concentration limits, AFM restrictions), routing to custodians or brokers via the FIX protocol, and post-trade allocation and confirmation. Ready to connect with Saxo, ABN, Pictet or international custodians.

Performance & attribution

TWR, IRR, benchmarks

Time-weighted and money-weighted returns per mandate and per asset class, benchmark comparison (MSCI, FTSE, blended benchmarks), attribution analysis (allocation versus selection effect), and risk-adjusted metrics such as the Sharpe ratio or information ratio.

Risk management

VaR, sensitivity & stress

Value-at-Risk at portfolio and client level, sensitivity analyses, stress tests against historical or hypothetical scenarios (rate shock, credit spread widening, equity crash), and concentration monitoring against mandate limits.

Reporting

Client & regulatory reporting

PDF reports per quarter or year, ad hoc reports, a MiFID II 10% drop notice engine, EMIR transaction reporting, and regulatory output to the AFM and DNB. For the heavier reporting stack, see our regulatory reporting service.

Customer portal

Digital wealth platform

Real-time portfolio overview, investment goals, a document vault with annual statements and suitability reports, communication with your adviser, and e-signing of mandate changes. Mobile-first, branded in your own corporate identity.

Adviser cockpit

360° client view

For your advisers: all relevant client information on one screen, including portfolio, goals, suitability status, open actions, communication history and composition tools. Plus shortcuts to the most requested actions (amend a mandate, trigger a rebalance, run a report).

Tax engine

Wealth tax & income tax

Preparation of tax figures per client: Dutch wealth tax (Box 3), income tax return data, dividend tax overviews and, for family offices, cross-border reporting (CRS, FATCA). Annual statements in a standard format for your client.

Compliance overlay

Wft, MiFID II, IDD, DORA

Continuous compliance checks: Wft licence boundaries, MiFID II appropriateness, IDD for the insurance component, EMIR reporting, GDPR logging on client data, and the DORA register for your ICT providers. Includes AML integration with your KYC/AML tool.

Multi-asset

Liquid and illiquid

Equities, bonds, ETFs and funds via standard data feeds. Hedge funds and private equity via NAV feeds or administrator uploads. Real estate via valuation uploads. Crypto via specialised custodians for the parties that offer it. Multi-currency with end-of-day rates or intraday pricing for actively traded mandates.

Integration layer

Data feeds, custody & CRM

Refinitiv and FactSet for market data, Bloomberg feeds where needed, custody feeds via SFTP or API, integrations with your CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, or a sector-specific system) and accounting package. A single reconciliation layer so differences between internal bookkeeping and custody data are immediately visible.

How we compare with the standard packages.

An honest map, as clients expect to hear this. Bloomberg AIM, BlackRock Aladdin, MSCI BarraOne and Charles River dominate the enterprise asset management market. SS&C Advent and FA Solutions are strong in the mid-tier asset management segment. Avaloq and Temenos Wealth are private banking platforms. Refinitiv (Symphony) and FactSet supply data and analytics. InvestSuite, additiv and FinX are white-label robo-advisory platforms.

For an enterprise asset manager with tens of billions under management, building something to replace Aladdin is almost always a poor business case. But for the tier below, the cost-to-functionality ratio of those packages is often poor: you pay for half the functionality you don't use, while the one process you specifically need is not properly covered.

Our place: custom software where the package doesn't fit, and custom software as a complement where the package does fit but falls short, for example a custom client portal on an Aladdin stack, or a Dutch tax engine on an Avaloq installation. The common thread: you get ownership of the code, no lock-in, and the choice to continue development yourself in future or bring in another party.

How a wealth platform project works.

1

Introduction & discovery

A conversation in which we understand your investment process, mandate structure, custody relationships and compliance context. We also explain what we would not build for you (and where Avaloq, Aladdin or FA Solutions is the better choice).

2

Architecture & user research

A workshop with your portfolio managers, advisers and compliance officer, plus interviews with a handful of clients. At the end: data model, integration overview, scope per release and an initial screen flow.

3

Building in sprints

A working build every two weeks. We typically start with the client portal and portfolio data, then move on to order management, reporting and the compliance layer. Your team tests along the way, and a few clients join a closed pilot.

4

Penetration testing, DPIA & go-live

In the final sprint: an external penetration test, a DPIA report and the DORA onboarding of your ICT suppliers into the register. After that, a phased rollout by client segment or mandate type.

5

Maintenance & further development

We handle regulatory changes (MiFID II updates, EMIR, tax changes) and client feedback in an ongoing sprint cadence. You retain control over priorities.

Frequently asked questions.

What clients usually want to know before we start.

What exactly is a digital wealth platform?
A digital wealth platform is the online layer where your clients and advisers come together around their investment portfolio: real-time value, performance, documents, communication and self-service actions. Behind the scenes it connects to your portfolio management system, custodian data and compliance tools. It does not replace your PMS, but it shapes the client experience around it.
How does it differ from wealth management software such as Avaloq or Bloomberg AIM?
Wealth management software (Avaloq, Bloomberg AIM, Aladdin, Charles River, SS&C Advent) is a broad enterprise package: PMS, OMS, performance, reconciliation, often including data feeds. We don't build such a full package. We build custom software where such a package doesn't fit, for example for mid-market managers, family offices, or as a client portal add-on to an existing package. For enterprise asset managers, Avaloq or Aladdin is usually the better choice.
How do you handle the DORA register and ICT third-party management?
DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) has required since 2025 that financial entities maintain a register of all their ICT suppliers, with risk classification, contracts and exit scenarios. We build that register as part of the compliance layer, with workflows for supplier onboarding, annual review and incident reporting to DNB/AFM. See also our service page on DORA compliance software.
What is the difference between a family office platform and an asset manager platform?
An asset manager manages money for many clients on the basis of mandates or funds, with standardised reporting and MiFID II suitability assessments. A family office manages wealth for one or a handful of families, often across multiple entities (BVs, foundations, trusts), with cross-border tax reporting, and a mix of liquid and illiquid assets (private equity, real estate, art). The data model and reporting structure are fundamentally different.
Which compliance rules do you build into the platform?
The Wft (Financial Supervision Act), MiFID II (suitability, appropriateness, 10% drop notice, transaction reporting), EMIR for derivatives, IDD where there is an insurance component, GDPR for client personal data, DORA for operational resilience, and AML/Wwft via your KYC layer. For pension providers, also BIO. We deliver the software layer; the licensing and supervision by the AFM and DNB remain your responsibility.
What determines the cost of such a platform?
The main drivers are scope (client portal only versus a full PMS), the number of asset classes (liquid assets only is much simpler than multi-asset including private equity), the number of integrations (custody, data feeds, KYC, accounting, CRM), and the weight of the compliance layer (a wealth planner has less regulatory overhead than a fund manager). We work in fixed sprint budgets so you can steer each sprint and aren't locked into an open-ended project.
Do you hold an AFM licence, or do you only provide software?
We provide software. The licence from the AFM/DNB (asset management or investment advice) is something you arrange yourselves; we cannot apply for or transfer it on your behalf. We do ensure the platform supports the processes your licence requires: suitability, audit trail, transaction reports to supervisors, and compliance reports for your own compliance officer.
Can this be integrated with our custodian, data provider and KYC tool?
Almost always, yes. We build FIX integrations to custodians (ABN, ING, BinckBank, Saxo, and internationally Pictet or Lombard Odier), REST/SOAP integrations to data feeds (Refinitiv, FactSet, Bloomberg feeds), and API integrations to specialised KYC/AML tools. For regulatory reporting to supervisory authorities, we often refer to our regulatory reporting service.
