Custom software for inland vessel certificate monitoring
Appfront builds software for shipping companies and vessel managers who want to keep track of the certificates for their inland vessels from the office. For each ship, the certificates, with expiry dates, inspection bodies and documents, sit in one place, as do the crew certificates. Surveys are scheduled on time, together with dry-dock visits and voyage planning, and the office can see what expires over the coming months. We describe the on-board record on the app page.
What is certificate tracking software for inland vessels?
An inland vessel may only sail with valid certificates, and additional requirements apply to certain cargoes or passengers. The crew also needs certificates, such as boatmaster licences and service record books. Certificates expire, surveys must be booked with a body and often at a shipyard, and conditions arising from a survey must be followed up. Which certificates are required is determined by the rules for the vessel, the cargo and the navigation area.
In practice, each skipper keeps their own certificates on file, and the office does not know exactly what will expire in the coming months. A survey is booked late, and the vessel has to come out of service at an inconvenient moment. A condition from a survey gets forgotten. And during an inspection the office searches for a document that is on board.
We build custom solutions because shipping companies differ: how many vessels, which types, which cargoes, which inspection bodies and shipyards, and which systems you use. Which certificates apply to your vessels follows from the regulations and the bodies you work with; if in doubt, check with them. The software ensures that nothing lapses unnoticed.

How we build your certificate tracking software for inland vessels
We start with your fleet: how many vessels, which certificates, which inspection bodies and shipyards, and how monitoring is currently done. If your vessels already use or will receive the on-board app, the office and the vessel share the same record. That way the skipper works with the same data as the office, even without signal.

Why choose Appfront for your inland vessel certificate tracking software?
A vessel laid up because of an expired certificate costs more than any survey. That is what we build around: the whole fleet in one place, surveys on time, and vessel and crew in a single overview.
Nothing expires
Warnings well in advance.
Smartly scheduled
Surveys combined with dockyard and voyage planning.
Found quickly
Every document in the office and on board.
Security and privacy in inland vessel certificate tracking software
The software holds data on vessels, certificates and crew members. Access is set up by role and by vessel, so a skipper sees only their own vessel.
The software runs in a European data centre, with encrypted storage, daily back-ups and sign-in with a second factor.
Frequently asked questions about inland vessel certificate tracking software
Questions shipping companies ask before getting started.
It keeps track of certificates and documents per vessel and per crew member, with expiry dates, flags what is due to expire soon, schedules surveys alongside dockyard visits and voyage planning, tracks conditions arising from surveys, and shows the whole fleet in one overview.
The app is for on board: the file with the skipper, even without signal, and the documents at an inspection. This software is for the office: the whole fleet, survey scheduling, follow-up and costs.
All certificates that apply to your vessels and crew, such as the vessel certificate, additional certificates for cargo or passengers, and boatmaster's licences and service record books. Which ones are required is determined by the regulations and the authorities you work with.
The software shows when a survey is due and places it alongside the voyage plan and a planned dockyard slot. That way a survey can be combined with other work, and the vessel is not laid up more often than necessary.
A condition or recommendation from a survey is given a deadline and an owner, and remains open until it has been addressed. At the next survey you can see what was done.
Yes, if it has an interface. Sailing schedules and shipyard visits come from the planning, and inspection costs can flow into accounting.
Check that first. Some packages include certificate management, and that may be enough. Custom development makes sense if every skipper currently keeps their own certificates, if surveys are scheduled by hand, or if you want vessel and crew in one overview.
