Custom asbestos inventory app development
Appfront builds apps for companies that carry out asbestos surveys. On site, the surveyor records the sources room by room with photo, location, quantity and condition, numbers the samples and sends them to the laboratory. The result comes back linked to the source, and the report is built from the recorded data. So nobody sits down in the evening typing notes and photos into a Word document, and the data is ready for the National Asbestos Tracking System.
What is an app for asbestos survey and reporting?
Before a building is demolished or renovated, an asbestos survey is often required. A certified company then maps where asbestos is present, in what quantity and condition, and which risk class the removal falls into. The work is carried out under the SC-540 certification scheme, and the report is recorded in the National Asbestos Tracking System, LAVS. An app for surveying and reporting supports that work from site to report.
At many firms, the surveyor walks through the building with a clipboard and a phone. Photos sit loose on the phone, sample numbers on paper. Laboratory results arrive by email. In the evening everything is put into a Word template, with the risk that a source, photo or result is linked to the wrong entry. The data is then keyed in again in the asbestos tracking system.
We build custom because the app has to fit the way you work: how you number rooms and sources, what data you record per source, which laboratory you work with, what your report looks like and how the review by a second expert is handled. What the scheme and the rules require of you is something you determine with your certification body; the app records what you need for that.
Recorded on site
Sources recorded per room with photo, location on the floor plan, quantity and condition, even without signal.
Samples and results
Samples numbered at the source, sent to the laboratory, with the result returned to the same place.
Reports drawn from the data
The report built from what is recorded on site, checked and ready for the asbestos tracking system.
How we build your app for asbestos survey and reporting
We start with an assessment: how things currently run from order to report, which data you record, and where time is lost.
Your orders, numbering, data per source, laboratory, report and review.
Rooms, sources, photos, floor plan and samples, even without signal.
Laboratory results linked to each source, and a report built from the data.
Review by a second expert, data ready for the LAVS, and then management.
What an asbestos survey and reporting app actually does
The components below come up at almost every survey firm. Which ones you need depends on how you work.
Orders
Orders with object, client and type of investigation.
Sources
Per room, the sources with photo, quantity and condition.
Floor plan
The location of each source and each sample on the floor plan.
Samples
Samples with number, dispatch and laboratory result.
Report
The report built from the data, in your own format.
Validation
Review by a second expert before the report goes out.
Who we build an asbestos survey and reporting app for
The app is intended for companies that survey for asbestos and report on it.
Survey firms
Many surveys per week. The report built from the data is the core.
Demolition companies
Surveys before your own demolition work. The handover to remediation matters most.
Property consultancies
Surveys for property managers. A floor plan per object is what is needed.
Larger property owners
Many objects containing asbestos. The overview per object is the core.

Why Appfront for your asbestos survey and reporting app?
A source placed in the wrong spot in the report is a risk for whoever does the remediation. We build around that: data recorded on site, results that come in linked to the source, and a report without retyping.
No evening work
The report comes from the data, not from a Word template.
Fewer errors
Photo, sample and result belong to the same source from the start.
Faster reporting
Once the laboratory result is in, the report is almost ready.
Security and privacy for an asbestos survey and reporting app
The app holds data about buildings, owners and asbestos, information that can be sensitive for the owner and the remediation contractor. Access is set up by role, and every change to a report is logged, including who checked what.
The app runs in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily back-ups. On site, the app also works without signal, and syncs as soon as there is a connection.
Frequently asked questions about an asbestos survey and reporting app
Questions survey firms ask before they start with this.
On site, it records the sources for each room with photo, location, quantity and condition, links samples and results to the source, and builds the report from that data, with a check by a second specialist.
The app supports your work according to the scheme, but the certificate belongs to your company. You determine with your certification body what the scheme requires of your method and report. The app records what you need for that.
The data is ready in the format the asbestos tracking system requires. Whether a direct integration is possible depends on what that system offers for this; we will look into that in the first step.
Yes. Cellars and crawl spaces often have no signal. The app stores everything on the device and syncs as soon as there is a connection.
Yes, provided the laboratory supplies results digitally. The result is linked to the sample and the source, without manual re-entry.
Yes. The report follows your template, with your chapters, tables and photos, built from the recorded data.
Check this first. There are packages for asbestos surveys, and they are a good fit if your way of working matches them. Custom software makes sense if you have your own method and report, or if you want the app to integrate with your own planning and administration.
