Custom field registration app for arable farming
An arable farmer records what has happened on each plot: tillage, sowing or planting, fertilising, crop protection, harvest. Often this is done in the evening, from memory or from a scribbled note, and details get lost. Appfront builds an app for use in the field that recognises the plot on location, lets you record the operation on the spot, and stores observations with a photo, even where there is no coverage.
What is a plot registration app for arable farming?
In arable farming, the plot is the file. Buyers, certification bodies and the government ask what has happened on each plot: which crop, which operations, which fertilisation and which crop protection, when and with which products. At the office, that is kept in the plot registration. But the work happens in the field, and that is where it usually isn't recorded.
If you reconstruct the day in the evening, you forget details. Which plot exactly was sprayed, how much was applied, and at what time. An employee or contractor phones it in, or writes it down, and it ends up in the system days later. Observations, such as a patch of disease or weeds, stay in someone's head and can't be found again on the next round.
We build custom software because farms differ: which crops, your own staff or contractors, which machines, and which system at the office is leading. Which records are mandatory is set out in the regulations and by your buyers and certification schemes; the app records what happens, at the moment it happens.
The plot on location
The app knows where you are and which plot that is.
Recorded in the field
Operation, product and quantity on the spot.
Even without coverage
Everything is stored and synchronised later.
How we build your plot registration app for arable farming
We start at your farm: which plots and crops, who does the work in the field, which records go wrong or arrive late now, and which system at the office maintains the plot registration. We often start with recording operations on location, because that is where most gets lost. Observations with photos, working without coverage and the integration with the office follow. We test the app in the field, with the people who will use it, before the season starts.
Plots, people and systems.
Plot recognised, work recorded.
Photo and location within the plot.
Tested in the field.
What a plot registration app for arable farming actually does
The components below appear in almost every plot registration app. Which ones you need depends on your farm.
Field
Recognised on location.
Operation
What, when, with what.
Products
Quantity per plot.
Observation
Photo and location.
Offline
Works without coverage.
Office
Straight into the registration.
Who we build a plot registration app for arable farming for
The app is intended for arable farms where the work happens in the field and the registration at the office. The more plots and people, the more it delivers.
Arable farms
Many plots. Recording in the field counts most.
Agricultural contractors
Work for many clients. Per plot and client is the core.
Seasonal workers
Changing staff. Simplicity counts.
Crop advisers
Observations in the field. Photo and location count.

Why Appfront for your plot registration app for arable farming?
An operation entered from memory in the evening, and an observation that stays in someone's head, leave the records incomplete at the moment a buyer or auditor asks for them. That is what we build on: the field recognised by location, recording done in the field, and an app that also works without signal.
Instant
Recorded where it happens.
The right field
Recognised on location.
Anywhere
Even without signal.
Security and privacy in a field registration app for arable farming
The app contains farm data: fields, crops, products and who did which work. Access is set up per role, contractors only see the fields they work for, and every entry is logged with time, location and name.
The data is stored in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily backups. We set out the processing in a data processing agreement.
Frequently asked questions about a field registration app for arable farming
Questions that arable farmers ask before they get started.
The app records in the field what happens on a plot: tillage, sowing or planting, fertilisation, crop protection and harvest, with the product, quantity and time. The app recognises the field by location, so the entry is linked to the right field.
The office is where the crop plan, the fields and the overview for buyers and certification live. The app is for the moment in the field: recording what happens while it happens. The data ends up in the same registration.
Yes. Everything is stored on the device and synchronised as soon as there is signal again. The field boundaries are also stored on the device, so the field is recognised even without signal.
Yes. A contractor only sees the fields the contracting company works for, and records the work in the same way. You see straight away what has been done, without waiting for a note or a phone call.
Yes. An observation is recorded with a photo and its location in the field. On the next round you can see where it was, and a crop adviser can respond to it.
Yes. Fields and crops come from the field registration you already use, and entries flow back. Which system that is and how the integration works, we look at in the first step.
Check that first. Some packages have an app. Custom development makes sense if that app doesn't work without signal, doesn't fit how your people and contractors work, or if entries are still being kept on paper.
Recording in the field, not from memory in the evening?
Tell us which fields and crops you have, who does the work in the field and how entries are currently kept. We'll show you what the app looks like.
