Custom household goods storage and container registration app development

Appfront builds apps for removal and storage companies that store household goods in containers. At loading, the removal team records what goes into which container, with photos and notes, and seals the container. At the warehouse, the container is scanned and assigned a location. When goods are retrieved, or the customer wants just one box back, it is immediately clear which container it is and where it is stored. And storage is invoiced per period.

What is a household storage and container registration app?

Many removal companies store household goods, for example between two homes, during a renovation or when moving abroad. The goods go into wooden or steel containers, which are stacked in a warehouse. The customer pays per container and per period. A household storage app keeps track of what is in which container, where it is, and for how long.

Without an app, the contents of a container are kept on a paper list in a folder. A customer calls about their bicycles, and someone has to work out which container they are in and where it is stored. A wrong container gets pulled out when goods are retrieved. A container stays longer than agreed without being invoiced. And only the warehouse manager knows how many spaces are free.

We build bespoke software because the app has to fit your storage: how you number and label containers, how the warehouse is laid out, how loading and check-in work, which storage periods and rates you apply, and which removal software and accounting system you use. The app works on the phones of removal staff and warehouse employees, including in a warehouse with poor signal.

Contents per container

At loading, the contents, photos and notes for each container, and the seal.

Location in the warehouse

At check-in, the container is scanned and placed in a location, so it can always be found.

Storage invoiced

Storage invoiced per container and period, so no container is forgotten.

How we build your household storage and container registration app

We start with your warehouse: how many containers you have, how the warehouse is laid out, how loading and check-in run, and how storage is currently invoiced.

1
Mapping your storage

Your containers, labels, warehouse layout, loading, check-in, check-out and rates.

2
Loading app

Contents per container with photos, notes and seal, at the customer's address.

3
Check-in and check-out

Scanning at check-in, a location in the warehouse, and check-out of a whole container or a single item.

4
Invoicing and management

Storage periods and invoicing, integration with your systems, and ongoing maintenance afterwards.

What a household storage and container registration app actually does

The components below come up at almost every business with household storage. Which ones you need depends on your warehouse.

Containers

Containers with number, label or QR code and status.

Contents

Contents per container with photos and notes.

Check-in

Scanning at check-in and a location in the warehouse.

Output

Check-out of a whole container or a single item.

Occupancy

Occupied and free locations in the warehouse.

Invoicing

Storage charged per container and period.

Who we build a furniture storage and container registration app for

The app is intended for businesses that store household goods in containers.

Removal companies

Storage between two homes. The contents per container are the core.

International removals firms

Storage pending shipment. The status per container matters most.

Storage companies

Storage only, for private individuals and businesses. Occupancy is what matters.

Business removers

Office archives and inventory. Release per item is the core.

Why choose Appfront for your furniture storage and container registration app?

A container that can't be found costs half a day and an unhappy customer. That's what we build around: contents recorded at loading, every container in a known location, and storage that never gets forgotten.

Always traceable

Every container has a location, and its contents are known.

No wrong releases

Scanning at release prevents the wrong container from leaving.

No missed revenue

Every container is invoiced for as long as it stands in storage.

Security and privacy for a furniture storage and container registration app

The app holds data on customers and their possessions, including photos of personal belongings. Access is set by role, and customers see only their own containers and contents.

The app runs in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily back-ups. In the warehouse, the app also works without a good signal and syncs as soon as there is a connection.

Frequently asked questions about a furniture storage and container registration app

Questions removal and storage companies ask before getting started.

It records the contents of each container with photos, registers arrival and location in the warehouse, supports release of a whole container or a single item, shows occupancy, and invoices storage by period.

By a label or QR code on the container. It is scanned at loading, arrival and release, so the right container is in the right place.

Yes. The app shows which container the item is in and where that container is. The release of that item is recorded, and the container's contents are updated.

Yes, if you wish, through a portal showing their own containers, contents and photos. That saves questions, and the customer can indicate what should come back.

Yes. The app stores everything on the device and syncs as soon as there is a connection.

Per container and period, according to your rates. The app tracks since when a container has been in storage, and prepares the invoices or sends them to your accounts.

Check that first. Some removals software has a storage module, and that is enough if you have few containers. Custom development makes sense with many containers, release per item, or a warehouse with its own layout.

Every container traceable, with its contents?

Tell us how many containers you have, how your warehouse is laid out and how you currently keep track of storage. We'll show you what loading, arrival and release look like in the app.
