Foodfolio is a mobile app for food lovers who want to record and share their culinary experiences. Users can photograph dishes, rate them and add notes, building up their personal culinary diary. By following foodfriends, users discover new restaurants and dishes, while their own experiences stay neatly organised in one app.
Culinary experiences worth remembering
A memorable meal often stays with you, but the exact memory of what you ate and why it was so good fades after a while. For food lovers, there was no place to capture culinary experiences and easily find them again later. From this idea, Foodfolio was born: an app in which food lovers can record their culinary experiences and share them with their foodfriends.
Appfront didn't just develop what we asked for; they actively helped us make Foodfolio better. You can see that in how strong and user-friendly the app has become. The approach was personal and flexible, which fitted our project perfectly. As a result, Foodfolio truly feels like ours, right down to the smallest details.
An app designed for real food lovers
To stop culinary experiences from being lost, the idea for Foodfolio emerged: an app where you can easily record and rate them. Together with the founders, we turned that idea into a mobile-first app in which logging dishes with ratings feels quick, intuitive and effortless. By adding social features such as foodfriends, the app grew into more than a culinary diary. It became a place where food lovers inspire each other to discover new flavours, restaurants and culinary experiences.
Designed for the moment
We designed the Foodfolio app for the moment. As soon as the course is served, you can take a photo and capture the key details in a few quick taps, without the phone taking over dinner. The experience stays central, while the memory is saved along the way. The next morning, Foodfolio reminds you with a push notification to finish off the memory. That way, you can savour both the culinary experience and the moment at the table.

A scalable platform for real food lovers
We built the Foodfolio app as a scalable, mobile-first application with a single shared React Native codebase for both iOS and Android. This allowed us to develop quickly while delivering a consistent user experience on both platforms. The backend runs on Node.js and is set up as cloud-based, scalable infrastructure that supports all core functionality: from storing reviews with photos to authentication, privacy settings and social features such as following foodfriends and a real-time feed. This gives you a robust and flexible platform that grows alongside its users.
