Custom VIPLive integration development
Appfront builds integrations with VIPLive, the open healthcare platform on which GPs, out-of-hours GP services, hospitals, mental healthcare providers, allied health professionals and care groups in a region collaborate. VIPLive has integrations with hospital information systems and third-party applications, among others. For organisations with their own application, we build the connection so that consultations, referrals or network care do not bypass the platform.
What is a VIPLive integration?
VIPLive is an open healthcare platform where care providers in a region collaborate with and for patients. GPs, out-of-hours GP services, laboratories, mental health institutions, hospitals, allied health professionals, care groups and ambulance services use it, for example for consultation and referral, network care around a patient, and urgent care. VIPLive has integrations with hospital information systems and with other parties' platforms, and supports signing in with the account of, among others, the GP information system.
If you run your own application, for example for a care programme, a lifestyle intervention or a regional service, you often work alongside VIPLive rather than within it. A referral comes in through the platform and is retyped into your own application. Feedback is sent by email. And the care provider has to check two systems to see what has happened with a patient.
We build custom software because applications differ, and because interoperability is a core principle of VIPLive itself. We look at which integration options are available for your application, and under which conditions, in the first step, together with you and VIPLive. You decide which data may be shared, together with your data protection officer.
Connected to the region
Your application connected to the platform where care providers in your region already work.
Without duplicate work
Referrals, consultations or registrations directly in your application, and feedback via the platform.
Aligned with VIPLive
Through the integration options VIPLive provides, under the conditions that apply to them.
How we build your VIPLive integration
We start with your application: what it does, which care providers work with it, which data currently comes in via VIPLive, and where information is retyped. We then look at the route available through VIPLive. Because the platform already has integrations with other parties, there is often an existing pattern we can build on.
Your application, care providers, data and what is currently duplicated.
The integration option and conditions that fit.
Messages in both directions, sign-in, legal basis and audit log.
Going live in the region, monitoring, and managing changes.
What a VIPLive integration does in practice
The components below feature in almost every VIPLive integration. Which ones you need depends on your application.
Receiving
Referrals and registrations in your application.
Feedback
Report or status sent back through the platform.
Network care
Your role in the network around a patient.
Signing in
With the existing account where possible.
Legal basis
Consent and legal basis recorded.
Audit log
Every message logged, including errors.
Who we build VIPLive integrations for
The integration is designed for organisations that collaborate with care providers in their region.
Care groups
Programmes for many practices. Network care is at the core.
Hospitals
Consultations with primary care. Fast handling matters most.
Programmes
Referrals from GPs. Receiving is what is needed.
Software suppliers
A product for healthcare. The integration is at its core.
Technology and integrations
This page is about integrations with VIPLive. For referrals to the hospital, see our page on a ZorgDomein integration; for GP and pharmacy systems, our page on a Sanday integration; and for mental health, our page on mental health software. You can read about our way of working under building software.
If you want to connect your application to the Medicom GP information system, see our page on a Medicom integration.
Why choose Appfront for your VIPLive integration?
A referral that gets retyped takes time and can go wrong. That is what we build on: your application connected to the region, without duplicate work, and aligned with VIPLive.
One place
Care providers work where they already work.
No manual re-keying
Referrals arrive automatically.
Reconciled
Through a route that VIPLive supports.
Security and privacy in a VIPLive integration
The integration processes medical data, which is particularly sensitive. Only data for which there is a legal basis or consent is exchanged, connections are encrypted, and every message is logged.
The integration runs in a European data centre or in your own environment, with encrypted storage, daily backups and strict role-based access.
Frequently asked questions about a VIPLive integration
Questions care organisations ask before they start.
An open care platform on which care providers in a region collaborate, such as GPs, GP out-of-hours services, hospitals, mental health care, paramedics and care groups. It is used, among other things, for consultation and referral, network care and emergency care.
Yes, with hospital information systems and other parties' platforms, among others, and signing in with the account of various systems. If your application is one of them, you do not need a custom integration. A custom integration is for applications that are not listed.
Through the integration options VIPLive provides, under the conditions that come with them. We look at which route fits and what it requires in the first step, together with you and VIPLive.
Only the data your application needs and that may be shared, such as a referral, a registration or a report. What is permitted depends on the legal basis and the patient's consent; you determine that with your data protection officer.
ZorgDomein is primarily aimed at referrals from primary care to hospitals and other care providers. VIPLive is a regional platform for collaboration between many types of care provider. Which one matters to you depends on your region and your partners.
The integration reports the failure and records what went wrong. The message is retried or set aside for review, so no referral or feedback is lost. The log shows, for each message, when it was sent and what the result was.
For care groups, programme providers and organisations with their own application that work with the care providers in their region, and for software vendors who want to connect their product to VIPLive. An integration built for one region can often be reused in other VIPLive regions.
Connect your application to VIPLive?
Tell us which application you use, which care providers you work with and how this currently runs through VIPLive. We will show you the available route and what the integration would look like.
