Consumption from your own systems to MPS Crop protection and fertilisers per application Energy and water without manual re-entry

Custom MPS integration

Appfront builds integrations for horticultural businesses registering for MPS-ABC, the environmental registration and certification scheme for ornamental horticulture. Consumption of crop protection products, fertilisers, energy and water is recorded for each period. We make sure this data flows in from your own cultivation records, climate computer and meters, per application and crop, and that the totals for each period are ready for the MPS environment.

What is an MPS integration?

MPS-ABC is an environmental registration and certification scheme for ornamental horticulture. Businesses record their consumption of crop protection products and fertilisers each period, as well as energy, water and waste, and indicate which propagation material they have purchased. Based on this, a business obtains a qualification, and after a series of periods and an audit, certification follows. Buyers often ask for it.

Records of crop protection and fertiliser use must be kept at application level. This may be done in your own recording system, as long as the total consumption per product and crop reaches the MPS environment at the end of a period. In practice, cultivation records sit in one system, energy in the climate computer or on a meter, and water on another screen. At the end of the period, the totals are added up and re-entered by hand.

We build bespoke solutions because every business is different: which crops you grow, which cultivation records system you use, which meters and climate computer are in place, and how you currently record data. Which MPS requirements apply to your business is set out in the current rules, which you should discuss with your certifying body; we make sure the data from your systems is complete and ready on time. That way, a period is never lost to an addition error or a missed deadline.

From your own systems

Applications from your cultivation records, energy from meters and climate computer, without manual re-entry.

Per application and crop

Crop protection and fertiliser use per application, with product, quantity, crop and date.

Totals per period

Per period, the totals per product and crop, checked and ready for the MPS environment.

How we build your MPS integration

We start with your business: which crops, which systems for cultivation, energy and water, and how you record things today.

1
Mapping your business and systems

Your crops, cultivation records, meters, climate computer and current record-keeping.

2
Collecting data

Applications, energy, water and waste from your systems.

3
Checks and totals

Completeness checks, and totals per product and crop per period.

4
Submission and management

Ready for the MPS environment, an overview for the audit, and ongoing management afterwards.

What an MPS integration actually does

The components below feature in almost every MPS integration. Which ones you need depends on your business.

Crop protection

Applications with product, quantity, crop and date.

Fertilisers

Fertilisers per application and crop.

Energy

Consumption from meters and the climate computer.

Water and waste

Water and waste per period.

Validation

Missing or inconsistent records per period.

Totals

Totals per product and crop for the MPS environment.

Who we build MPS integrations for

The integration is intended for horticultural businesses registering for MPS.

Greenhouse horticulture

Energy from the climate computer. The meters are central.

Tree nurseries

Many crops and plots. Applications per crop matter most.

Bulb growers

Seasons with many spray applications. Completeness is what counts.

Advisers

Supporting multiple businesses. The overview per business is the core.

Technology and integrations

This page is about registration for MPS-ABC. For nurseries, see our page on nursery software, for ornamental horticulture, our page on an ornamental horticulture app, and for certification in arable farming, our page on VVAK field registration. You can read about our approach under getting software built.

Why choose Appfront for your MPS integration?

An incomplete period does not count towards qualification. That is what we build around: data from your own systems, completeness checks, and totals that are ready on time.

No manual adding up

Totals per product and crop are calculated for you.

No missed periods

Anything missing is flagged well before the deadline.

Ready for the audit

The source of every application can be shown.

Security and privacy in an MPS integration

The integration processes business data on crops, agents and consumption, data you share only with whom you choose. Access is set up by role, and every period is logged.

The integration runs in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily backups.

Frequently asked questions about an MPS integration

Questions ornamental horticulture businesses ask before getting started.

MPS-ABC is an environmental registration and certification scheme for ornamental horticulture. Businesses record, per period, their use of crop protection products, fertilisers, energy, water and waste, and on that basis receive a qualification. After a series of periods and an audit, certification follows.

Yes. You can keep your crop protection and fertiliser application records at application level in your own system, as long as the total consumption per agent and crop reaches the MPS environment at the end of each period. The integration builds those totals from your own records.

Yes, provided the climate computer or meters make their data available. Consumption per period is then calculated without you having to type in meter readings. Where a meter has no integration, someone enters the reading once per period, with a check for implausible values.

For each period, the integration checks whether applications, energy and water have been recorded, and whether there are deviations from earlier periods. Anything missing appears on an overview, so it can be completed before the deadline. An agent that carries a different name in your crop records than in MPS is matched once and recognised automatically from then on.

The totals are prepared in the format the MPS environment requires. Whether they can be submitted directly depends on what MPS offers for this; we look into that in the first step.

These are set out in the current MPS rules and depend on your crop. You discuss what applies to you with your certifying body; the integration ensures the data is complete and ready on time.

For businesses with their own crop records, meters and climate computer, where MPS registration is currently totalled and retyped by hand, and for advisers who support several businesses.

MPS registration without manual totalling or retyping?

Tell us which crops you grow, which systems you use for cultivation, energy and water, and how you currently keep records. We will show you what the integration would look like.
