Custom Microsoft 365 integration development

Almost every Dutch business works with Microsoft 365: Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive. Yet the data in those systems is often separate from your own business software. A Microsoft 365 integration brings everything together.

We build integrations via the Microsoft Graph API that connect your applications seamlessly with the Microsoft ecosystem. Automatic, reliable and secure.

What is a Microsoft 365 integration?

A Microsoft 365 integration connects your own business software with the services your staff use every day: Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive. Through the Microsoft Graph API, data flows automatically between systems, without staff having to retype anything by hand.

📧

Email and calendar

Synchronise emails, calendar appointments and contacts with your CRM, project tool or client portal. Automatically log emails against client records, create appointments from within your application, or retrieve availability for scheduling.

📁

Documents and files

Automatically link files in SharePoint or OneDrive to projects, clients or processes in your own system. Version control, permissions and metadata stay intact while users work from within your application.

👥

User management and SSO

Through Azure AD (Entra ID), you manage single sign-on, user provisioning and role-based access. Staff sign in with their Microsoft account and automatically receive the correct permissions in your application.

Microsoft 365 services we integrate

The Microsoft 365 ecosystem is broad. We build integrations with the services that support your business processes, from email to document management and from team communication to identity management.

📧

Outlook and Exchange Online

Read, send and log e-mails from your application. Calendar integration for appointment scheduling, availability and meeting requests. Synchronise contacts with your CRM system.

📁

SharePoint Online

Connect documents and lists to your business processes. Automatically create folders per project or client, upload files with metadata and trigger document workflows from your system.

💬

Microsoft Teams

Send messages to channels, notify people of status changes and deploy chatbots in Teams. Ideal for CRM notifications, project updates and support alerts directly in the communication channel.

☁

OneDrive for Business

Store, retrieve and share files via OneDrive from within your application. Users work with familiar file storage while your system automatically links the right files to records.

🔒

Azure AD / Entra ID

Single sign-on (SSO) via SAML or OpenID Connect. Automatic user provisioning and deprovisioning via SCIM. Role-based access and MFA support for your own applications.

⚡

Power Automate

Low-code workflows that combine Microsoft 365 actions with your business logic. Process forms, start approval processes and synchronise data between systems without custom code.

How does the Microsoft Graph API work?

The Microsoft Graph API is the central access point to all Microsoft 365 data. Through a single REST endpoint, you access mailboxes, files, teams, users and more. We build your integration on top of this API.

🔗

One API for everything

Instead of separate APIs for Outlook, SharePoint and Teams, Microsoft Graph uses a unified endpoint (graph.microsoft.com). Less complexity, consistent authentication and a standardised data model.

🔔

Webhooks and change notifications

Rather than continuously polling for changes, your application automatically receives notifications when data changes. A new e-mail, an updated document or a new team member: your system responds immediately.

🛠

Batch requests and delta queries

Efficient data synchronisation through batch requests (multiple API calls in one request) and delta queries (retrieving only changed data). Fast and economical with API limits, even with large datasets.

Applications of Microsoft 365 integrations

Microsoft 365 integrations are relevant to almost every business application. Below are the most common uses we build.

CRM and client management

  • Automatically log Outlook e-mails to client records
  • Create calendar appointments from the CRM
  • Synchronise contacts between Outlook and the CRM
  • Teams notifications for new leads or deals

Document control

  • Automatically create SharePoint folders per project
  • Generate documents and save them in the correct folder
  • Version control and approval workflows
  • Custom applications with SharePoint as the document layer

HR and onboarding

  • Automatic account creation in Azure AD during onboarding
  • Licence assignment and group management via SCIM
  • Create Teams channels for new teams
  • Offboarding: deactivate accounts and archive data

Project management

  • Connect project files in SharePoint to your project tool
  • Forward task updates to Teams channels
  • Synchronise Planner tasks with your project management software
  • Link time tracking to the Outlook calendar

Your Microsoft 365 data working within your own systems

Your staff work in Outlook, Teams and SharePoint every day. The valuable data created there (emails, documents, appointments, contacts) is often locked inside the Microsoft ecosystem. A Microsoft 365 integration makes that data available in your own applications, exactly where your staff need it. No duplicate entry, no switching between systems, no information lost.

Security and compliance

Microsoft 365 holds sensitive business data: emails, documents, personal data. Security is central to every integration we build.

🔒

OAuth 2.0 and least privilege

Every integration uses OAuth 2.0 authentication via the Microsoft identity platform. We only configure the permissions (scopes) that are strictly necessary, with no excess access to data the integration does not need.

🛡

GDPR and compliance

Data flowing through the integration is processed in line with GDPR. We advise on data minimisation, retention periods and the use of the Microsoft Compliance Center for audit trails and DLP policies.

🛠

Monitoring and logging

All API calls are logged and monitored. In the event of errors, rate limits or authorisation issues, your team is alerted automatically. Integration with Azure Monitor and DevOps tooling enables proactive management.

Frequently asked questions about Microsoft 365 integrations

A Microsoft 365 integration connects your business software with services such as Outlook, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive via the Microsoft Graph API. This way, emails, files, calendar items and user data flow automatically between systems, without manual re-entry.

Virtually all Microsoft 365 services: Outlook (email and calendar), SharePoint (documents and sites), Teams (messages and channels), OneDrive (file storage), Azure AD / Entra ID (user management and SSO), Planner (tasks), Power Automate (workflows) and Excel Online (data).

Microsoft Graph is Microsoft's central API, giving you access to data and functionality across Microsoft 365, Azure AD and Windows. Through a single endpoint, you can reach mailboxes, calendars, files, teams and users. We build integrations on top of this API.

All integrations work via OAuth 2.0 and the Microsoft identity platform (Entra ID). We configure the right permissions (scopes) so the integration only has access to what it needs. Sensitive data is encrypted, and no information is stored unnecessarily.

Yes. Via Azure AD / Entra ID, we build SSO integrations so that employees can sign in to your business applications with their Microsoft account. This works with SAML 2.0 or OpenID Connect and supports multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Yes. Alongside the cloud version of Microsoft 365, we support integrations with on-premises Exchange Server and SharePoint Server via Exchange Web Services (EWS) or hybrid configurations. We advise on the best approach for your situation.

A single integration, such as Outlook mail sync or SharePoint document management, can go live within a few weeks. A broader integration covering multiple Microsoft 365 services, SSO and webhooks is delivered in phases.

The cost depends on the number of services being integrated, the complexity of the data flows (one-way or bidirectional), whether SSO or provisioning is required, the number of users, and the logging and compliance requirements.
