LRK number and status always up to date in your system Locations and providers without retyping Differences from the register visible immediately

Custom LRK integration development

DUO's national childcare register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang, LRK) is the source for who may offer which childcare: every registered location and childminder has an LRK number, a provider, a type of care and a status. Parents need that number for the childcare benefit, municipalities and the GGD health authority for supervision, and childcare organisations themselves to keep their own records accurate. Appfront builds the integration between the LRK and your systems: the data from the register in your own software, updated whenever the register changes, with every difference visible immediately.

What is an integration with the national childcare register (LRK)?

An LRK integration pulls the data from the national childcare register into your own system. DUO makes the register available as open data: for each location the LRK number, the provider, the address, the type of care, the number of childcare places and the status. The integration reads that file, compares it with your own records and shows where they differ: a location that is in your system but not in the register, a changed branch number, a provider with a different name. The LRK number automatically appears wherever parents and authorities need it.

Without an integration, the register is maintained by hand. A new location is applied for at the municipality, and once the registration is complete, someone retypes the LRK number into the child records, the invoicing system and the parent app. A change in the register, a different provider after a takeover or a changed capacity, is only noticed when a parent calls to say their benefit application was rejected. For an organisation with dozens of locations or a childminder agency with hundreds of childminders, that is impossible to keep up with.

We build custom because your records and your systems determine what the integration needs to do. Whether you are a childcare organisation monitoring its own locations, a childminder agency tracking all affiliated childminders, a municipality aligning registrations and supervision, or a supplier who wants to include the register in its package makes a difference. DUO offers the register as a downloadable file; which format and update frequency suit you is something we look at in the first step.

How we build your integration with the national childcare register

We start with your administration: which locations or childminders you manage, where the LRK number is currently recorded and who uses it. Then we build the first integration, importing the register and reconciling it with your locations, because that is where most errors come from. You work with it for a while. Alerts for changes, the number on documents and integrations with planning and invoicing follow once that runs well. After that, we keep the integration up to date whenever DUO changes the file or the register.

What an integration with the National Childcare Register (LRK) actually does

The components below appear in almost every LRK integration. Which ones you need depends on your role in childcare and on your systems.

Import

Open data from DUO.

Reconciliation

Register alongside your administration.

Differences

Flagged before it goes wrong.

Changes

New operator, status, capacity.

Documents

LRK number on contract and invoice.

Log

Every update traceable.

Who we build an integration with the National Childcare Register (LRK) for

The integration is intended for organisations that manage more than a handful of locations or childminders and for whom the LRK number must be correct across multiple systems.

Childcare

Monitoring your own locations.

Childminder agencies

Tracking hundreds of registrations.

Municipalities and GGD

Registration and supervision.

Suppliers

Register built into the package.

Technology and integrations

This page is about the register. For the hours statement to parents, see our page on hours statements for the childcare allowance; for occupancy per group, our page on child-to-staff ratio (BKR) calculation and occupancy; and for parents, our page on an hours statement app. You can read about our way of working on building software.

Why Appfront for your integration with the National Childcare Register (LRK)?

A childcare allowance application rejected because the LRK number on the contract is out of date, a location that goes by a different name in three systems, or a change in the register that nobody noticed: all of these cost a childcare organisation time and the trust of parents. That is what we build around: the register in your system, differences immediately visible, and the right number on every document.

Security and privacy in an integration with the National Childcare Register (LRK)

The register itself is public; your child administration is not. The integration imports the register and compares it with your locations, without any child data leaving the system. Access is set up per role and every update is logged with a timestamp.

The integration runs in a European data centre, with encrypted connections and storage. Earlier versions of the register are kept, so you can show what it contained on a given date.

Frequently asked questions about an integration with the National Childcare Register (LRK)

Questions that location managers and administrators in childcare ask before they get started.

The Landelijk Register Kinderopvang (National Childcare Register), managed by DUO. It lists all registered day nurseries, out-of-school care providers, childminder agencies and childminders, each with an LRK number. Only childcare that is in the register qualifies for the childcare allowance.

DUO makes the register available as an open data file. We have not found a public API confirmed. The integration imports the file at a frequency you choose; if DUO changes how it delivers the data, we will adapt the integration.

On the next update, the integration spots the difference and flags it: a new operator, a changed status, a different capacity or a number that has lapsed. You decide what needs to happen in your records.

Yes. The number from the register is linked to your location and appears automatically on the documents parents need for the childcare benefit.

Yes. A childminder agency can then track all its affiliated childminders in the register: registration, status and changes, without looking up each childminder separately.

Yes. A municipality can compare its own registrations with the national register, and a GGD can track the locations in its supervisory area. What exactly is needed differs per organisation.

Organisations with dozens of locations or childminders and several systems in which the LRK number must be correct. With two locations, keeping the register up to date by hand is usually enough.
