Custom Peppol integration for your entire invoice flow
Connecting to Peppol is only the beginning. The value lies in what happens to an invoice afterwards: checking it, matching it to the order, getting it approved, posting and storing it, and, on the sending side, knowing whether an invoice has actually arrived. Appfront builds software for the entire invoice flow via Peppol, so e-invoices run from receipt to posting without manual work and you can see where every invoice stands.
What is software for the invoice flow via Peppol?
Peppol is the European network for exchanging e-invoices and other trade documents. An invoice travels from the sender's Access Point to the recipient's, in an agreed format. In the Netherlands, public-sector clients receive e-invoices via Peppol, and in Belgium e-invoicing between businesses via Peppol has been mandatory since 1 January 2026. A Peppol integration handles the connection. This software handles what happens to each invoice before and after that connection.
At many companies, an e-invoice arrives digitally but everything after that is still done by hand. Someone looks up the purchase order, compares amounts and quantities, emails the invoice for approval and enters it in the accounts. On the sending side, an invoice goes out without anyone knowing whether it arrived or was rejected. The work stays the same; only the format has changed.
We build custom software because every invoice flow is different. How many invoices you receive and send, whether you work with purchase orders, who can approve up to what amount, and which ERP or accounting package you use all determine how the software works. If your accounting package already does everything you need with Peppol, custom software isn't necessary, and we'll tell you so.

How we build your Peppol invoice flow software
We start with your invoices: how many come in and go out, through which channels, how they are currently checked and approved, and which system books them. Then we build a first version for the incoming flow, with validation and matching, because that is where most of the manual work sits. You use it for a while. Approval, booking, archive and the outgoing flow follow once that is running well. After that, we keep the software up to date as standards or your systems change.

Technology and integrations
This page is about the entire invoice flow via Peppol. For the connection itself, see our page on the Peppol integration, for the format our page on the UBL integration, and for invoices that still arrive as PDFs our page on invoice recognition. You can read about our approach on building software.
Why Appfront for your Peppol invoice flow software?
An e-invoice that is still checked by hand, an approval that gets stuck in a mailbox or a sent invoice that nobody knows has arrived costs a company time and sometimes payment terms. That is what we build around: every invoice validated and matched, approval according to fixed rules, and a status for everything you send.
Less manual work
From receipt to booking.
Paid faster
Invoices really do arrive.
Control
Over every invoice.
Security and privacy for Peppol invoice flow software
Invoices contain company details, amounts and bank account numbers. Access is set up per role, a changed bank account number at a supplier triggers an alert before payment is made, keys and certificates are stored encrypted, and every step is recorded with name and time.
The software runs in a European data centre or in your own environment, with encrypted storage and daily backups. Invoices are retained for as long as the statutory tax retention period requires.
Frequently asked questions about Peppol invoice flow software
Questions companies ask before getting started.
A Peppol integration handles the connection to the network via an Access Point, so you can receive and send e-invoices. This software handles what happens to each invoice next: checking, matching, approving, posting and archiving, plus the status of what you send.
That depends on your customers. Government clients in the Netherlands receive e-invoices via Peppol, and in Belgium, B2B e-invoicing via Peppol has been mandatory since 1 January 2026. Even without an obligation, it can pay off if your customers or suppliers are already on Peppol.
For an incoming invoice, the software finds the purchase order and the goods receipt, and compares supplier, items, quantities and amounts. If everything is within the margins you set, the invoice goes through. If something doesn't match, the right person sees it with the discrepancy highlighted.
Yes. You define who may approve which amount or which cost centre. The software sends the invoice to the right person, sends reminders if nothing happens, and records the decision.
Yes. For each invoice, the software tracks whether it has been sent and delivered, and processes a response from the recipient if one comes in. An invoice that doesn't arrive or is rejected triggers an alert, so you don't only find out something is wrong when the payment term runs out.
Yes. Approved invoices go to your accounting system, and outgoing invoices come from your ERP or invoicing system. We'll look at which route your system offers in the first step.
For companies with many incoming or outgoing invoices, with purchase orders or multiple approvers, and whose accounting package only handles the connection. If you receive a handful of invoices a month, an off-the-shelf package is often perfectly fine.
