Custom software for scopes and inspector qualification management
Appfront builds software for inspection companies and inspection bodies that must demonstrate that every inspector is competent for what they inspect: per inspector, the scopes and types of inspection, the training and qualifications required for them, experience in terms of numbers of inspections, shadowing days and supervision, and the deadline by which a competence must be reconfirmed. So that planning only assigns competent inspectors, and an accreditation audit does not require days of searching.
What is software for inspector scopes and qualification management?
An inspector may not inspect everything. For each scope or type of inspection, requirements apply: training, a qualification, a number of inspections under supervision, a periodic assessment. Anyone working under an accreditation or certification scheme must demonstrate that every inspection was carried out by someone who was competent for it. Qualification management software records these requirements, tracks for each inspector which ones they meet, and grants and withdraws competences.
Without such software, competences sit in a spreadsheet kept by the technical manager, qualifications are in personnel files, and experience is recorded nowhere. An inspector who carried out no inspections in a scope for a year still appears as competent. A certificate expires without planning knowing about it. And at the accreditation body's audit, for a sample of inspections, it must be established whether the inspector was competent on that day.
We build custom software because the requirements differ by scope and by schedule: which scopes you carry out and which requirements the scheme manager or your own quality system sets, how you assign authorisations, what supervision you perform, and which HR system and planning tool you use. An HR package knows training; it does not know the link between a scope, the requirements and the inspections a person actually carried out.
Requirements per scope
For each scope or type of inspection, the training, qualifications, experience, supervision and reconfirmation required, as set out by your scheme or quality system.
Competence per inspector
For each inspector per scope: whether they are competent, since when, on what basis, and when it must be reconfirmed. An expired requirement turns the competence red.
Provable for each inspection
Every inspection shows that the inspector was competent on that day, with the evidence attached. The audit becomes an export.
How we build your software for scopes and inspector competence management
We start with your latest audit: which questions were asked about competence, how long it took to answer them, and where the gap was.
Your scopes and types of inspection, the requirements per scope from the scheme and quality system, how you currently assign them, and the systems for HR, scheduling and inspection.
The requirements per scope in the software, the inspectors with their training and certificates, and the current competences carried over.
Experience from completed inspections, shadowing and supervision sessions, and the granting and reconfirmation of competences.
The integration with planning and the inspection app, alerts for expiring requirements, the audit file, and then ongoing management.
What software for scopes and inspector competence management actually does
The components below come up at almost every inspection company that works with scopes. Which ones you need depends on your schemes and on how you currently assign competences.
Scopes and requirements
For each scope, the requirements for training, qualifications, experience, supervision and reconfirmation, with the version of the scheme they come from.
Inspector file
For each inspector, their training, qualifications and certificates with validity and evidence, sourced from HR or entered manually.
Experience from inspections
The number of inspections per scope and per period, taken from the inspection app, so experience does not have to be tracked from memory.
Supervision and shadowing
Shadowing days and supervision sessions with the supervisor's assessment, as the basis for granting or reconfirming a competence.
Qualifications
Granting, reconfirming and withdrawing per scope, with date, decision-maker and justification, and a signal when a requirement expires.
Audit file
For each inspection or each inspector, the evidence of competence on the date of the inspection, exportable for the auditor.
Who we build software for scopes and inspector competence management for
The software is intended for inspection companies that must demonstrate competences and currently do so using spreadsheets and files.
Accredited bodies
Operating under accreditation with requirements on inspector competence. The audit file and reconfirmation are the core.
Inspection companies under a certification scheme
Scopes with requirements set by a scheme manager. The requirements per scope and the experience count most.
Growing inspection companies
New inspectors who need to build up scopes. Supervision and shadowing are what is needed.
Multidisciplinary inspection companies
Many scopes and inspectors with different combinations. The overview per scope and the integration with planning are the core.

Why Appfront for your software for scopes and inspector competence management?
An inspection is only as strong as the competence of the person who carried it out. That is what we build on: requirements per scope, evidence per inspector, and demonstrable proof for every inspection.
Only competent inspectors
The planning knows the competences. If a requirement lapses, the inspector is removed from the planning for that scope.
Experience from practice
How many inspections someone carried out within a scope comes from the inspection app, not from an estimate.
The audit is an export
For every inspection in the sample, the evidence is ready. The technical manager no longer has to search through files.
Security and privacy in software for scopes and inspector qualification management
The software holds staff data, certificates and assessments of inspectors. Access is set by role: the inspector sees their own file, the technical manager and the supervisor see the competences, and the planning sees only whether someone is competent. Every grant and withdrawal is logged with name, time and justification.
The software runs in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily back-ups. Copies of certificates are kept only for as long as they are needed to demonstrate competence.
Frequently asked questions about software for scopes and inspector qualification management
Questions inspection companies ask before getting started.
It records the requirements for each scope, keeps track per inspector of training, certificates, experience and supervision, grants and reconfirms competences, flags lapsing requirements, passes competences on to the planning, and shows for each inspection that the inspector was competent at the time.
From the certification scheme or accreditation rules under which you operate, and from your own quality system. The software records them per scope with the version they come from, so that any change to the scheme is visible.
From the inspections an inspector has actually carried out, drawn from the inspection app. This shows whether someone has done enough inspections in a scope to remain competent, and who has not carried out a scope for a long time.
Yes. The competences per scope pass to the planning, and an inspector whose requirement lapses is no longer proposed for that scope until the competence has been reconfirmed.
Yes. For a sample of inspections, the software shows for each one that the inspector was competent on that date, with the underlying training, experience and supervision, as an export for the auditor.
A new inspector follows a pathway per scope of training, shadowing and inspections under supervision. The supervisor records their assessment, and the technical manager grants the competence once the requirements have been met.
Check that first. An HR system records training and a quality system records procedures, and that is enough when you have few scopes. Custom development makes sense if you have many scopes and inspectors, if experience from inspections must feed in, or if the planning must enforce competences.
