Custom software for the Barometer Duurzame Bloemist and certified purchasing
Under the Barometer Duurzame Bloemist, the number of points determines whether you receive a bronze, silver or gold certificate. You do not collect those points in the week before the audit but throughout the year, with every batch you purchase and every choice you make in the shop.
What the certification scheme requires of you
The Barometer Duurzame Bloemist has three levels. Florists receive a bronze, silver or gold certificate, depending on the number of points they achieve. Alongside the general requirements every sustainable florist must meet, you can earn points through optional measures. This makes the scheme a tally rather than a yes-or-no question.
A significant part of those points comes from purchasing. Certified florists buy in products bearing sustainability certifications, including MPS-A and its plus variant, EKO or organic, and On the way to PlanetProof. Which certification a batch carries therefore partly determines your score, and that information arises at the point of purchase, not at the audit.
On top of that, there are requirements for the business operations themselves. Think green electricity, LED lighting, environmentally friendly cleaning products and a fuel-efficient car. For transporting flowers, deliveries must be made using commercial vehicles with cleaner engines; florists who do not yet meet this have time to comply through a replacement plan.
Whether you meet the requirements is assessed by independent certifying bodies. A flower department within a garden centre can also be certified in its own right. That means the bookkeeping must be clearly separated: which purchases belong to which department.
How we build this
The heart of it is the batch. Every certification mark is tied to a specific delivery, and today's score is the sum of what has come in this year.
Record which certification mark applies to each delivery, while the delivery note is still to hand.
General requirements and optional measures side by side, showing your progress towards bronze, silver or gold.
Energy, lighting, cleaning and transport, with the documents that prove each one.
An overview that a certifying body can review independently, without needing an hour of explanation.
What the software actually does
The integration between purchasing and points carries the whole thing. What else you need depends on your size: a single shop, a chain, or a department within a garden centre.
Certification mark per batch
Which certification mark was on this delivery, with the delivery note or certificate attached as evidence.
Share of certified purchasing visible
What proportion of your purchasing carries a certification mark, updated continuously rather than only at the end of the year.
Points total
What you have achieved now and what is needed for the next level, so that a decision in March still makes a difference.
Evidence for each measure
An energy contract, an invoice for lighting, or a replacement plan for the vehicle fleet, stored with the item it relates to.
Per department or location
A flower department in a garden centre can be certified separately; in that case, its purchasing must also be separable.
Audit overview
Everything the certifying body needs in a single export, with the source of each data point.
Who we build for
Who works with this differs by company. Four situations.
Independent florists
They handle purchasing, sales and administration themselves and have no hour a week to spare for a file.
Florist chains
For them the question differs per location, while the certificate covers the whole business.
Garden centres with a flower department
They certify a department, so the purchasing for that department must be traceable on its own.
Buyers
With every order they determine next year's score, usually without realising it.

The scheme is revised, certification marks are added and requirements shift. Measures, points and certification marks should be configurable and not hard-coded.
For production on busy days, with each order shown as a ticket on the binder's screen and the flowers deducted per bouquet, there is our app for bouquet production with order tickets.
Why Appfront
You collect points all year round
Whoever starts only at the audit misses eleven months of purchasing. We keep the score visible continuously.
The certification mark belongs to the batch
Not to the supplier and not to the season. We record it at the delivery it belonged to.
A department is a business in its own right
If you certify only the flower department, the bookkeeping must draw that boundary too.
We do not certify
Assessment is carried out by an independent certifying body. We make sure your file is in order.
Security and privacy
Your purchasing data shows who you buy from, on what terms and in what volumes. That is commercially sensitive information, especially within a chain where branches should not see each other's figures. We set access per role and per branch, give an auditor temporary, limited access, and log that access. Integrations run through secure connections to your existing software.
For this topic, the reliability of timing is the key point. A certificate that was added to a batch after the fact is no longer evidence during an assessment. We record registrations in an unalterable way, with time and person, and any correction appears as a visible correction alongside the original entry. How we handle security ourselves is set out in our information security policy.
Frequently asked questions about the Sustainable Florist Barometer
Florists receive a bronze, silver or gold certificate, depending on the number of points they earn. In addition to the general requirements that every sustainable florist meets, you can earn points through optional measures.
Certified sustainable florists purchase with sustainability certification schemes, including MPS-A and its plus variant, EKO or organic, and On the way to PlanetProof. The certification on a batch therefore partly determines your score.
Among others: green electricity, LED lighting, environmentally friendly cleaning products and a fuel-efficient car. Flowers are transported in company vehicles with cleaner engines; if you do not yet meet this, you are given time through a replacement plan.
Independent certification bodies verify that the requirements have been met. The software prepares the file; the judgement remains with them.
Yes, that is possible for the florist department within a garden centre. In practice, however, the purchasing and operations of that department must be traceable separately in your records.
No. This concerns the florist and their purchasing and operations. Software for growers and cultivation is a different subject; we have a page about the ornamental horticulture app for that.
Do you know what share of your purchasing carries a certification?
Pull last month's deliveries and count how many suppliers held a certification. If that takes more than half an hour, your points score until the audit is an estimate. We build this as a standalone application and as part of a broader custom software development project.
