Scaffolding per location Inspection and release recorded Changes logged

Custom scaffolding registration app for your project

Appfront builds apps that let contractors and scaffolders track, per project, which scaffolds are in place, who built them, when they were inspected and released, what changes have been made since, and when the next inspection is due. The scaffold tag hanging on the scaffold is linked to the record in the app, so everyone on the project can see whether they're allowed on it.

What is a scaffold registration app for a construction project?

A scaffold registration app creates a record for every scaffold on the project: where it stands, who erected it, the load and use it is rated for, when it was inspected and released, and which inspections have followed. Every change to the scaffold, a removed guardrail, an added lift, a relocated beam, is logged with who made it and when, and puts the release on hold until it has been re-inspected. The scaffold tag on the structure refers to that record.

Without such an app, a tag hangs on the scaffold showing green until someone turns it over, the inspection report sits in the site cabin, and nobody knows who removed the guardrail. Several parties work on the same scaffold, and after an accident or an audit it is impossible to say who inspected what and when. The periodic inspection after a storm or after a modification is forgotten because nobody put it in a diary.

We build custom solutions because responsibilities differ from project to project. Sometimes the scaffolder erects and inspects, sometimes the contractor inspects, sometimes an external expert does. The rules an inspection must meet come from the guidelines that apply to the project, and the client wants their own oversight. The app should follow that division of roles and carry the site rules of the project.

The scaffold as a record

Location on the project, erector, use and load class, drawing or photographs, and the full history of inspection, release, inspection and modification.

Inspection and release

The inspection with checklist and photos, release by the competent person, and the scaffold tag linked to the record. Without a release, the scaffold shows red.

Modifications and re-inspection

Every change reported with who, what and when; release is put on hold until re-inspection is done. Periodic inspections in a calendar with notifications.

How we build your scaffold registration app for a construction project

We start with the scaffold tags and inspection reports as they currently exist on the project, and with the division of roles between contractor and scaffolder. The app follows from there.

1
Mapping roles, guidelines and projects

Who erects, inspects and releases, which guidelines and site rules apply, how the scaffold tag currently works, and where things went wrong on recent projects.

2
Building the scaffold record and inspection

Per scaffold, the record with location, erector and use; the inspection with checklist, photographs and release; the scaffold tag with a QR code linking to the record.

3
Modifications and inspections

Reporting modifications from a phone, release on hold pending re-inspection, periodic inspections in a calendar with notifications to the person responsible.

4
Overview and taking over management

For each project, an overview of all scaffolds and their status, the record for the client, and the inspection. After that we take over management of the app.

What a scaffold registration app for a construction project concretely does

The components below appear on almost every project with scaffolding. Which ones you need depends on the number of scaffolds and on who carries out the inspections.

Scaffold Register

All scaffolds on the project with location, erector, use, load class and status, on a map or site plan.

Inspection checklist

The inspection according to the applicable guideline, with photographs for each point, the competent inspector and the release, including when there is no signal.

Scaffold tag with QR

The tag on the scaffold with a code linking to the record; anyone who scans it sees the status and the most recent inspection.

Modification report

Anyone on the project reports a modification or defect from their phone; the status goes on hold pending re-inspection.

Inspection calendar

Periodic inspections and re-inspections after modification or weather, with notification to the responsible person and the history per scaffold.

Project file

Per project, all scaffolds, inspections, checks and modifications as a record for the client and the inspectorate.

Who we build a scaffold registration app for on a construction project

The app is designed for projects where multiple scaffolds and multiple parties come together, and where it is impossible to answer who inspected what.

Contractors

Scaffolds from several scaffolding contractors on one project, with subcontractors working on them. The register per project makes the status visible to everyone.

Scaffolding contractors

You build and inspect across several projects at once and want to be able to show, for each scaffold, when you last inspected it and what has been changed since by others.

Site managers and safety officers

You are responsible for the construction site and want inspections in a schedule and changes logged, not on a card that someone turns over.

Clients and supervisors

You want to be able to view the record of every scaffold per project without having to search through the site hut.

Why choose Appfront for your scaffold registration app on a construction project?

Scaffold registration only works if the card on the scaffold and the record in the app say the same thing. That is what we build on.

The card is the entry point

Anyone on the scaffold can scan the card and see its status. Green in the app means green on the scaffold; a change puts both on hold.

Inspect as the guideline requires

The checklist follows the guideline that applies on the project, per scaffold type, with the competent inspector recorded. That is what an inspection wants to see.

Changes are the core

A scaffold that has been inspected changes afterwards. The app turns every change into a notification with consequences, rather than a guardrail that has quietly disappeared.

Security and privacy for a scaffold registration app on a construction project

Inspections and releases carry legal weight in the event of an accident or an audit. Only authorised persons can release, and every inspection, check and change is logged with user, time and location. Roles are set per project.

Inspections and checks are stored immutably; a correction is a new entry referencing the old one. The record per scaffold can be exported after the project ends and kept for the period that applies to the project.

Frequently asked questions about a scaffold registration app on a construction project

Questions that contractors and scaffolding companies ask before getting started.

It creates a record per scaffold with location, builder, use, inspection, release, inspections and changes, links the scaffold tag to that record via a QR code, lets changes and defects be reported from a phone, and puts the release on hold until the scaffold has been re-inspected. Each project has an overview of all its scaffolds and their status.

No, it links to it. The tag on the scaffold remains the physical entry point, with a QR code leading to the record. Anyone who scans it sees the status, the latest inspection and the changes since. The tag and the app say the same thing, because the app drives the tag.

Only the people authorised for this under the project's role assignments can do so: the scaffolder, the main contractor or an external inspector. You set this up per project, and the app only lets those people release a scaffold. Every release is recorded in the file with name and time.

They report it from their phone, or someone else reports it if they spot it. The release is put on hold and the scaffold card shows this until an authorised inspector has inspected it again. A removed guardrail thus becomes a report with consequences rather than an accident.

The checklist is set up per project and per scaffold type, in line with the guideline and the site rules that apply to you. We establish which ones at the start; the app records them and the inspector works through them, with photos for each point.

Yes. Inspections, checks and reports are stored on the phone and synced as soon as there is a connection, with the actual time recorded. Scanning the tag also works without signal, showing the last known status.

Yes. For each project, the file covering all scaffolds can be exported, including inspections, checks, changes and photos, for the client, the inspectorate or your own archive. How long you keep it depends on the agreements made for the project.
