Custom app for business data and on-site activity checks
What a company actually does is visible on the shop floor: which machines are in place, what is stored in the warehouse, which work is underway. What is registered sits in the Trade Register. Those two often diverge more than people think, and you only notice the difference when you put them side by side.
Why on-site observation corrects the register
A business is given one SBI code for its main activity and may also hold codes for secondary activities. If what it does changes, that should be reported to the Chamber of Commerce within a week. In practice this often doesn't happen, because a gradual shift never has a moment at which someone thinks, I need to report this.
For anyone making a visit, this matters. Insurers calculate premiums based on the code and may refuse to pay out for damage that doesn't match the registered activities. Subsidies and permits are also checked against the code. On-site observation is then the only way to see that the registration is lagging behind.
On top of this, the classification itself was recently revised. Over the weekend of 6 and 7 September 2025, all codes in the Trade Register were converted to the new version, largely automatically. For around sixty-five thousand codes this did not go smoothly, because seven codes were missing from the conversion scheme; a corrective action followed at the end of January.
For your field staff, this means: the code on the screen is not automatically the code that fits what they see. And the observation they make is the only information that does not come from a register. Recording it at the moment itself is therefore worth more than a report written afterwards.
How we build this
The core is the visit. The registration is known before anyone rings the bell; what they find there is new, and it must be recorded on the spot.
Who this company is, which activities are registered, and what has changed since the previous visit.
Using fixed checkpoints, so that two inspectors assess the same things and the outcome remains comparable.
A machine, a storage area or an activity is captured faster with a photo than with a description.
If practice deviates from the registration, it goes to whoever needs to act on it: the adviser, the underwriter or the company itself.
What the app does in practice
Recording during the visit holds it all together. What else you need depends on your role: advising, underwriting or supervising.
Look up the company on site
Search by name, number or address, with the registered activities and branches shown straight away.
Fixed observation points
A short list that determines what is established, so the outcome does not depend on who went along.
Photo with location and time
Evidence for an observation, because any later dispute will be about what was recorded on the spot, not what was written up afterwards.
Works without signal
Industrial estates, sheds and cellars rarely have good coverage. The app works locally and synchronises later.
Difference from the registration
See immediately whether what you observe matches what is registered, while you are still on site.
History of previous visits
What was established last time, so that a shift over the years becomes visible.
Who we build for
Who makes visits differs by organisation. Four situations.
Risk inspectors
They assess whether the risk fits the policy, and the activity is the first fact in that assessment.
Account managers
On a client visit they see that something has changed, but rarely have a place to record it.
Industry advisers
Membership and contributions depend on the activity, and that shifts without any notification.
Supervisors
They must be able to show what a judgement rests on, and that is the observation made on the spot.

The classification is being revised, and codes come and go. Code lists, observation points and fields should be configurable and not hard-coded into the app.
Why Appfront
Practice shifts, registration does not
A gradual change never has a moment when someone thinks, I need to report this. That is why observation is the starting point.
Fixed points make visits comparable
Without those points, the outcome depends on who visited. With them, a shift over the years becomes visible.
The photo settles the debate
What was there, with the time and place recorded, is later the only thing that stands up.
We do not change registrations
Reporting remains the responsibility of the company and runs through the Chamber of Commerce. We make sure the discrepancy becomes visible.
Security and privacy
What your field staff record concerns another company's operations: which machines are present, what is in storage, how work is carried out. This is commercially sensitive information that must be handled with care. We restrict access by role and by portfolio, show an inspector only their own visits, and log every access. What is stored locally on the device is encrypted and can be wiped remotely if a phone is lost.
For this subject, the reliability of the moment is what matters. An observation that is adjusted after a damage claim is no longer an observation. We record findings in an unalterable way with time, place and person, even when synchronisation happens later, and any correction appears as a visible amendment alongside the original entry. How we handle security ourselves is set out in our information security policy.
Frequently asked questions about on-site activity checks
Because activities shift gradually. There is usually no moment when someone thinks this needs reporting, yet a change should be passed on to the Chamber of Commerce within a week. After a few years, the code describes the company as it was back then.
Because there are consequences. Insurers calculate premiums based on the code and may refuse to pay out for damage that does not fit the registered activities. Subsidies and permits are also checked against it. Discovering the discrepancy after a claim is the most expensive option.
Yes. Industrial estates, warehouses and technical spaces rarely have good coverage, and that is exactly where observations take place. The app retrieves the register data in advance, works locally and synchronises as soon as a connection is available again.
Over the weekend of 6 and 7 September 2025, all codes in the Chamber of Commerce register were converted to the new classification. It then emerged that seven codes were missing from the conversion schedule, meaning around sixty-five thousand codes had not been converted correctly; a correction operation followed at the end of January.
Because a free-text report is not comparable. With a short, fixed list, two inspectors assess the same things, and a shift across several visits becomes visible. Without such a list, you have a collection of opinions.
In the system where the register and practice are kept side by side. We describe this on our page about SBI and Chamber of Commerce register software. See also our approach to building an app.
When was it last checked what this company actually does?
Take a relationship you have had for years and set the registered activity alongside what you saw at the last visit. If that cannot be established, the register is your only source, and it lags behind. We build this as a standalone app and as part of a broader app development project.
