Custom job sheet app for electrical engineering engineers

Appfront builds apps for electricians who want to complete their job sheet on site. The day's assignments are ready, measurement values come from the meter straight onto the job sheet rather than from a notebook, and photos of the fuse box go with it. Extra work is approved by the client on the spot, and materials taken from the van are deducted. We describe the office processing on the software page.

What is an app for electrical job sheets?

An electrician carries out several jobs in a day: a fault, an extension, a periodic inspection. Each job involves hours, materials and often measurement values such as insulation resistance or the operation of the RCD. Those measurement values are held in the meter and need to appear on the job sheet and in the installation record. On many jobs it also becomes clear on site that more work is needed.

In practice, the electrician copies measurement values from the display into a notebook or onto a paper job sheet. Materials taken from the van are not noted down, and the van runs low without anyone knowing. Additional work is agreed verbally, which leads to discussion when the invoice is issued. Photos stay on the personal phone. And the job sheet is completed in the evening or at the end of the week.

We build custom solutions because installation firms differ: the work you do, the measuring instruments your electricians use, how additional work is agreed, and which systems you use for scheduling, stock and invoicing. Which tests an installation requires follows the standards and your order; the app makes sure they end up on the job sheet.

Measurement values without retyping

Measurement values from the meter recorded on the job sheet, or entered quickly with checks against the limits.

Additional work approved

Extra work with a description, and the client's approval on screen before it is carried out.

Van stock tracked

Materials taken from the van deducted per job, so restocking happens on time.

How we build your app for electrical job sheets

We start with your engineers: which jobs, which measuring instruments, how extra work and materials are handled today, and where the job sheet ends up. We look at a few engineers' working days together. The app has to be faster than paper, or it won't get used.

1
Mapping the work

Your jobs, measuring instruments, extra work, van and systems.

2
Job and job sheet

The day's jobs, hours, materials and photos.

3
Measurements and extra work

Measured values on the job sheet, and extra work with the client's approval.

4
Integrations and maintenance

Integration with software, planning and stock, followed by maintenance.

What an electrical job sheet app does in practice

The components below come up at almost every electrical contractor. Which ones you need depends on your work.

Daily jobs

Jobs with address, installation and history.

Measurement values

From the measuring instrument, or entered quickly.

Photos

Consumer unit and installation on the job sheet.

Additional work

Description and the client's approval.

Van stock

Materials charged to each job.

Signature

Job sheet signed and sent to the client.

Who we build an electrical job sheet app for

The app is designed for electricians who want to complete their job sheet on site.

Installers

Many jobs a day. The daily jobs are the core.

Service engineers

Faults and extensions. Extra work matters most.

Inspection companies

Many measurements per installation. The measured values are what's needed.

Technical services

Own buildings and installations. The history is the core.

Why choose Appfront for your electrical job sheet app?

A measured value that gets copied over wrongly, or extra work agreed verbally, comes back later as a question. We build on that: measured values on the job sheet, extra work with approval, and a van stock that's kept up to date.

No more paper

Measured values and photos on the job sheet.

No disputes

Extra work approved before it's done.

Van stocked

Materials charged to each job.

Security and privacy for an electrical job sheet app

The app holds data on clients, addresses and installations. Access is set up per engineer, and an engineer only sees their own jobs.

The app also works without signal, in a basement or meter cupboard, and sends the work order as soon as there is a connection. The data is stored in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily back-ups.

Frequently asked questions about an electrical job sheet app

Questions installation businesses ask before getting started.

It shows the day's jobs, records hours, materials and photos, pulls measured values from the measuring instrument or lets them be entered quickly, handles extra work with the client's approval, charges materials from the van, and has the client sign.

The software is for the office: processing job sheets, passing them on to invoicing and records, and giving an overview. This app is for the engineer on site: the job, the measurement, the extra work and the van. They work together.

If the measuring instrument has an export or integration, for example via Bluetooth or a file, we pull the readings from it. Otherwise the fitter enters them quickly, with a check against limits so that a typo stands out.

The engineer describes the additional work, optionally with a price from your list, and the client approves it on screen. The extra work then appears on the job sheet, with the approval, so there is no discussion when the invoice goes out.

Material used on a job is deducted from the engineer's van stock. The software sees what is still in the van and can prepare a top-up, so the engineer never arrives at the customer without parts.

Yes. In a basement or meter cupboard there is often no signal. The app simply keeps working and sends the job sheet as soon as the connection is back.

Check that first. Many packages include a job sheet app, and that may be enough if it works well on site. Custom development makes sense if you want to pull measurement values from your instruments, approve additional work with the customer, or if engineers don't use the current app.
