Appfront for AI assistants and agents

appfront.nl is built to be easily read by AI assistants and agents as well. Alongside the regular pages there is an MCP server, a REST API, a Markdown version of every page and an llms.txt. Everything is public and read-only: no key, no account. Each IP address is limited to 120 requests per minute for the REST API and 1,200 per minute for the MCP server.

MCP server

Address: https://appfront.nl/mcp (Streamable HTTP). Server card: https://appfront.nl/mcp/server-card. The server has eight tools:

• search_pages: search all pages, returning title, URL, description and a text snippet.
• get_page: retrieve a single page as Markdown.
• list_comparisons: list the comparisons ('The best ... in the Netherlands'), optionally by topic.
• get_comparison: retrieve a single comparison as a structured list: rank, name, website, description and features per provider.
• list_sections: the sections of the site with the number of pages.
• get_contact: contact details and how to submit an enquiry.
• search and fetch: the same search and retrieval function in the format ChatGPT expects.

Adding it in Claude: go to Settings, Connectors, and add a custom connector with the address https://appfront.nl/mcp. Claude can then search appfront.nl directly. In ChatGPT you can add an MCP server as a connector via the apps and connectors settings, depending on your plan.

REST API

The same functions are available as a REST API at https://appfront.nl/api/v1. The specification is in openapi.json and the API catalogue is at /.well-known/api-catalog. Examples:

Search works in both Dutch and English. With lang=en (or an English search query) you get the English versions of the pages back, at appfront.nl/en/. Errors are returned as JSON with a code, a message and a hint. Every response includes RateLimit headers.

Markdown, llms.txt and sitemap

• Every page can be requested as Markdown using the header Accept: text/markdown. Comparisons then begin with a numbered overview of all providers.
• llms.txt describes when to use Appfront and where to find what; llms-full.txt contains all pages with their title and description.
• The sitemap lists all pages; new pages are announced via IndexNow.
• All comparisons are at appfront.nl/vergelijkingen.
