Hire a programmer

Hiring a developer through Appfront means getting a developer who fits in with your team, your technology and your way of working. From React and Node.js to Python, Next.js, Scala and Flutter: you hire the expertise you currently lack, without handing over an entire project. Below you can read how this works and for which technologies we have developers available specifically.

What does hiring a developer involve?

Hiring a developer means an individual developer joins your own team and way of working, usually for a specific technology or to meet a temporary or structural capacity need. You retain control over priorities, planning and architectural decisions; the developer provides the hands and the specific expertise that is missing at that moment.

This is different from outsourcing software development, where you hand over a complete project or product to an agency that takes over direction, planning and quality assurance. Both models have their place: hiring suits you well if you already have a team and a roadmap and need extra hands, temporarily or long-term; outsourcing suits you better if you want to entrust an entire journey from idea to launch to a single party.

At Appfront you can hire developers for the most in-demand technologies. Below you can see which roles we have developers available for specifically, and further on which technologies these are.

One developer, your team

The developer works within your sprints, your tools and your planning. Not a separate column in your organisation, but a colleague who brings the required technology.

Technology that fits

React, Node.js, Next.js, Python, Scala, DevOps or Flutter: you choose the expertise that suits your stack, not a generalist who has to learn everything from scratch.

Able to grow with you

We start with one developer, and if the need grows, we can expand to a small team or a fully outsourced project, without you having to start from scratch.

How hiring a developer works

We start with your requirement, not a pile of CVs. That way you quickly know whether the match is right, and the developer can genuinely contribute to your team rather than spending weeks getting up to speed.

1
Intake

We discuss your technology, the role you are looking for, your team and the way you work: sprints, tools, and whether the developer will work remotely, in a hybrid arrangement or on-site.

2
Match

We propose a developer who has demonstrable experience with your stack. You speak with the developer yourself before deciding, so you know who you will be working with.

3
Onboarding

The developer joins your team, your repository and your way of working. Short lines of communication between you, the developer and Appfront keep the collaboration running smoothly.

4
Ongoing or temporary

You decide whether the engagement is temporary, becomes permanent, or grows into a larger team or a fully outsourced project.

Which roles you can come to us for

Each role brings specific expertise. Below are the roles we most often hire developers for, with a separate page for each technology offering more detail.

Front-end developer

React and Next.js developers who build interfaces that load quickly and work well, with attention to accessibility and maintainable components.

Back-end developer

Node.js, Python and Scala developers who build APIs, databases and integrations that keep running reliably under load.

Mobile developer

Flutter developers who build a single codebase for iOS and Android, with a native feel and attention to performance on both platforms.

DevOps engineer

Developers who set up and manage CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and infrastructure automation, so that deploying is no longer a risk.

Full-stack developer

Developers who handle both front-end and back-end work, useful if you are looking for one person who can build a complete feature from interface to database.

Expanding to a team

If your requirement grows into several roles at once, we assemble a small team with complementary expertise under a single point of contact.

Who is hiring a developer suitable for?

Mainly businesses that already have a team and a roadmap, but are temporarily or permanently missing specific expertise.

Scale-ups

Teams that are growing quickly and need extra hands, temporarily or permanently, without immediately taking someone on payroll.

Established IT teams

Organisations with their own development team that want to absorb a peak in the schedule or are temporarily missing specific expertise, for example in a new framework.

Municipalities and public organisations

Public sector organisations that want to temporarily strengthen their own IT team with specific expertise, for example for an integration or migration project.

Enterprises with a peak in demand

Larger organisations that temporarily need extra capacity for a project, without permanently expanding their permanent headcount.

Choose your technology

For each technology we have a separate page with more detail about the role, the typical engagement and what the developer is used to. If your requirement does not fit the overview below, discuss your situation via the contact form.

Why hire a developer from Appfront?

We work day to day with the technologies we place developers in. That means we propose a developer who has demonstrably worked with your stack, rather than one who only has experience on paper.

We think along about the match: does the role genuinely suit your team and project, or would a different technology or a fully outsourced project be a better idea? We would rather give you honest advice up front than a developer who does not fit.

If your needs grow during the collaboration, we can grow with you: from one developer to a small team, or to a fully outsourced development project. Also take a look at our broader custom software development.

  • Developers who work hands-on with the technology you need
  • Honest advice on the best setup for your situation
  • Short lines of communication between you, the developer and Appfront
  • From a single developer to a complete team
  • Fits in with your own tools and way of working
  • The option to scale up to an outsourced project

Working safely with a contract developer

An external developer gets access to your code and sometimes to production systems. We work with restricted access, version control with code review, and agree clearly in advance on what the developer may and may not access. This way you keep an overview of who has access to what.

Confidentiality is set out in our collaboration agreements. You can read more about how we handle information security in our information security policy.

  • Restricted access to code and systems
  • Version control with code review as standard
  • Confidentiality agreements set out in advance
  • No unnecessary access to production data

Frequently asked questions about hiring a programmer

Answers to the questions we are asked most often.

When you hire a programmer, a single developer joins your own team and way of working, often for a specific technology or a temporary capacity need. You retain control over priorities and planning. When you outsource development, you hand over an entire project or product to an agency that takes on management, planning and quality assurance. We offer both; which one suits you depends on how much control you want to keep and whether you already have a team for the developer to join.

We provide developers with experience in React, Node.js, Next.js, Python, Scala, DevOps and Flutter/mobile development, among others. Each technology has its own page with more detail on the role and typical use. If your request doesn't fit neatly into one of these categories, we'll discuss in an introductory call which expertise does match.

Both are possible. Many clients start with one developer for a specific role or technology and expand as their needs grow. For a larger capacity requirement, we put together a team with complementary roles, for example a front-end and back-end developer together with a DevOps engineer.

That's up to you. Most engagements are hybrid or remote, with close contact by video and a shared project board. If your team prefers to work with someone on-site, we'll discuss this beforehand so the collaboration fits your way of working.

That depends on the technology required and availability at the time. After a short intake conversation about your stack, your team and the role you're looking for, we'll give you a realistic picture of the lead time for your specific request.

The investment depends on the technology required, seniority and the duration of the engagement. As this varies greatly from case to case, we only put together a well-founded proposal after an introductory conversation about your specific request.

Yes. This happens regularly: a project that starts with a single contract developer grows into a request for a complete team or an outsourced engagement. Because we're already familiar with your codebase and way of working by then, the transition goes smoothly without you having to start from scratch.

This is for companies with an in-house development team that need extra capacity, either temporarily or on an ongoing basis, for organisations missing specific expertise (for example in a framework or DevOps), and for teams that want to absorb a peak in their planning without taking someone on permanently.
