Invoices from your platform matched to the right payment Less admin work for the freelancer Only routes that Tellow permits

Custom Tellow integration

Appfront builds integrations with Tellow, the bookkeeping app for freelancers that runs on the bank account: transactions arrive automatically and are categorised. Tellow has few integrations with other software. For platforms and apps where freelancers create invoices or process revenue, we look at which route Tellow offers, so those invoices end up matched to the correct payment in the books.

What is a Tellow integration?

Tellow is an accounting app for freelancers. Bookkeeping runs from the bank account: transactions come in automatically through a bank integration and are categorised, and the freelancer creates invoices and files the tax return within the app. For anyone who wants their admin as simple as possible, that is enough. Tellow offers few integrations with other software.

Many freelancers also work with a platform where they receive assignments, log hours or create invoices. The invoice is then generated on the platform, the payment arrives in the bank, and Tellow shows a payment without the invoice that goes with it. The freelancer has to work out which invoice it was, then either create the invoice in Tellow again or upload it by hand.

We build custom work because platforms differ, but we promise nothing Tellow does not allow. We look at which integration options exist for your application in the first step, together with you and with Tellow. Sometimes that is a direct route, sometimes an export the freelancer uses, and sometimes the honest answer is that a different accounting package suits better.

Invoice matched to the payment

Invoices from your platform recorded in the bookkeeping so that they match the correct bank transaction.

Less admin work

The freelancer does not have to search for which invoice belongs to which payment.

An honest route

Only routes that Tellow permits, and an honest answer if there is no such route.

How we build your Tellow integration

We start with your platform: which data is created, how many users use Tellow, and where they run into problems. Then we look with Tellow at what is possible. Because Tellow has few integrations, this is the most important step: we only start building once the route is in place.

1
Mapping the platform

Your data, your users, and where they currently get stuck.

2
Route with Tellow

Which integration option or export is available.

3
Build integration

Invoices and revenue, consent, and duplicate checks.

4
Go-live and management

Go-live, monitoring, and maintenance when Tellow changes.

What a Tellow integration actually does

The components below come up in a Tellow integration, depending on the route that is available.

Consent

The freelancer connects their own account.

Invoices

Sales invoices from your platform.

Attributes

Data that matches the bank payment.

Export

A file, where that is the route.

Duplicates

Duplicate invoice checks.

Audit log

Every message logged, including errors.

Who we build a Tellow integration for

The integration is intended for platforms and firms with freelancers on Tellow.

Freelance platforms

Invoices on the platform. The link to payment is the core.

Time registration

Hours that lead to invoices. Reducing manual work matters most.

Service providers

Many freelance clients. A simple route is what is needed.

Bookkeepers

Clients in Tellow. Complete invoices are the core.

Technology and integrations

This page is about integrations with Tellow. For other accounting packages for freelancers, see our page on a MoneyMonk integration, our page on a Moneybird integration and our page on an e-Boekhouden integration. You can read how we work at software development.

Why Appfront for your Tellow integration?

For a freelancer, a payment without an invoice means manual work and a risk at tax time. That is what we build around: invoices matched to the right payment, less manual work, and only routes that Tellow allows.

Payments match

The invoice belongs to the transaction.

Time for work

Less admin for the freelancer.

Honest

No integration promised that cannot be delivered.

Security and privacy in a Tellow integration

The integration processes financial data of freelancers. Each user gives their own permission, access credentials are stored encrypted and used only by the integration, and every message is logged.

The integration runs in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily backups.

Frequently asked questions about a Tellow integration

Questions platforms ask before getting started.

Tellow is an accounting app for freelancers. Bank transactions come in automatically through a bank integration and are categorised, and the freelancer creates invoices and files VAT returns within the app.

Tellow has few integrations with other software, and we have not found a public API open to everyone. In the first step, together with Tellow, we look at which options exist for your application, before anything is built.

Then we look at an export from your platform that the freelancer can use in Tellow, for example the invoice as a file with the details needed to match it to the payment. If that is not available either, we will say so honestly, and discuss whether an integration with a different accounting package suits your users better.

Because Tellow runs on the bank account. A payment arrives automatically; what is missing is the invoice alongside it. If the invoice with the right details is in Tellow, it is matched to the payment, and the freelancer doesn't have to look anything up.

Each invoice receives a reference from your platform. The integration checks whether that reference has already been sent and skips a second submission. An error is reported, so the user or your support can look into it. The log shows for each invoice when it was sent and what the result was.

Then we adjust the integration. In the administration we keep track of changes, and we test the integration before any change at Tellow affects your users. If more integration options become available later, a route that began with an export can move to a direct integration.

For platforms and apps with many freelancers using Tellow, and for accountancy firms with many clients on Tellow. For a single freelancer with a handful of invoices, the app itself is usually enough.

Invoices linked to payment?

Tell us what your platform does, which data is created and how many users use Tellow. We will look at which route is available and show what the integration would look like.
