Custom Montapacking integration development
Appfront builds custom integrations between your webshop and Montapacking, now Monta: the Dutch fulfilment provider that handles storage, pick & pack, shipping and returns for webshops. Through the Monta API we automatically send your orders to the warehouse and pull stock levels, shipping status and track & trace back into your shop in real time. You stay in control of your logistics without typing a single order by hand.
What is a Montapacking integration?
Montapacking, active for several years under the name Monta, is a Dutch e-fulfilment partner. The company stores your stock in its warehouse, picks and packs orders from your webshop, ships them through a broad network of carriers and handles returns. You outsource all the physical logistics while keeping control of your shop and your customers.
An integration lets your webshop and the Monta warehouse talk to each other. In practice, that means new orders are sent automatically from your shop to Monta, stock levels are updated as products come in or leave the warehouse, and shipping confirmations with track & trace reach your customer's inbox. What would normally be manual re-keying becomes fully automated.
Appfront builds that integration on the official Monta integrations and API, following the OWASP ASVS security standard. We align the data flows, the returns process and the error handling with your actual order process, so the integration grows with your range and stays reliable during peak periods such as the holidays.
One warehouse, all orders
Your orders arrive from every sales channel in one place. Monta picks, packs and ships from the warehouse, while your shop reflects the order status in real time. You can see at a glance what has been dispatched and what is still outstanding.
Stock that is always accurate
Stock movements in the warehouse sync back to your webshop. When you sell a product, the stock level drops immediately; when a new delivery arrives, it goes online straight away. That way, you never sell something you don't have in stock.
Shipping and returns sorted
Monta ships through multiple carriers and links track & trace back to your shop and your customer. If a parcel is returned, the warehouse records the handling and we update your stock and order status automatically.
Our development process for Montapacking integrations
We work to a proven methodology that removes uncertainty early and delivers a stable integration. From an initial analysis of your webshop, range and Monta account through to going live and ongoing management, every step is aimed at an integration your team can understand and trust.
We map out your order process: which webshop platform you use, which products and SKUs Monta needs to manage, which carriers and returns flow are involved, and which data flows between shop and warehouse are required.
We design the integration architecture around the Monta API, choose the right authentication and synchronisation method, and set up an error-handling strategy so that no order is lost.
Implementation with automated tests, structured logging and monitoring. We test with real orders and stock movements, so you can see a working integration running along the way.
Controlled go-live with validation on order and stock data, plus a safety net, followed by ongoing management and further development of the integration.
What a Monta integration actually delivers
We tailor every Monta integration specifically to your webshop platform, product range and logistics requirements. Below are the features we most often deliver for webshops that have outsourced their fulfilment to Montapacking (now Monta).
Monta API & webshop integration
A stable integration between your webshop and the Monta warehouse via the official Monta API or a standard integration. If you run on Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento or Lightspeed, we connect to that; if you have your own shop, we build the integration to order.
Automatic order forwarding
As soon as a customer checks out, we send the order automatically to Monta so the warehouse can pick and pack straight away. Address details, product lines and shipping preferences are passed on in full, with retries if the connection briefly falters.
Real-time stock sync
Sync stock levels back from your warehouse to your webshop, so your shop always shows what is actually available. Incoming deliveries, sold products and backorders are updated automatically, so you never sell what you cannot ship.
Shipping & labels
Monta ships through a wide network of carriers and creates the shipping labels in the warehouse. We link the chosen carrier and shipping method back to your shop, so the customer and customer service always know where the parcel is.
Track & trace feedback
As soon as Monta ships an order, the track & trace code flows back to your webshop and, if you wish, into your shipping email. Your customer can follow the parcel without your team having to look up or forward codes manually.
Returns & stock corrections
Returns that Monta processes in the warehouse are synced back to your webshop and accounting. Stock is corrected automatically and your customer service team can see which return has arrived, so refunds run smoothly and accurately.
Typical use cases in practice
A Monta integration looks different for every webshop. We often see a number of recurring patterns, and for each we have a working setup that takes the right platform, data flows and returns process into account.
Growing webshops
Shopify, WooCommerce or Magento webshops that have outgrown their own stockroom and outsource logistics to Montapacking (now Monta). Orders flow automatically to the warehouse, while stock and track & trace return to the shop. See also our smart API integrations.
D2C brands
Direct-to-consumer brands that sell their own products and care about the customer experience. Monta handles storage, pick & pack and shipping, while your brand stays in control of the order process. We connect the webshop so that shipping and returns run seamlessly. Read more about webshop development under e-commerce development.
Marketplace sellers
Sellers who sell on marketplaces alongside their own webshop and want to fulfil from a single stock. Orders from multiple channels come together at Monta, stock stays consistent across all channels, and we make sure every order ends up in the right place.
Scalable fulfilment
Webshops with highly fluctuating or fast-growing order volumes, from seasonal peaks to sustained growth. The Monta integration is built to handle those volumes, with retries and monitoring so no order gets stuck, even during busy periods. See also custom middleware.
Technology we use
We build Monta integrations on the Monta API and webhooks, combined with the backend stack that suits you. The precise choice depends on your webshop platform and your data flows, so that your own team can manage or further develop the integration.
Why choose Appfront for your Monta integration?
Appfront has extensive experience building API integrations between webshops and logistics systems in the Netherlands. We always start with a thorough analysis of your shop, product range and order process, because a fulfilment integration must not only work technically but genuinely make your day-to-day logistics easier.
With every integration we write clear documentation and make sure your own team, or a future supplier, can understand and manage it. No black box, but transparent code and clear agreements on monitoring, alerting and maintenance.
You work with a dedicated point of contact who understands both the technical and the functional side. This keeps communication short, prevents misunderstandings and speeds up decisions when choices need to be made during development.

Security and privacy in Montapacking integrations
A fulfilment integration continuously processes order and address data for your customers: names, delivery addresses, email addresses and order details. This is personal data, and it deserves careful protection. Appfront builds to the OWASP ASVS security standard: secrets stored in secure vaults, webhook signature validation, scoped permissions and regular audits of the order and stock flows.
Because your customer data flows through the integration to the Montapacking (now Monta) warehouse, we document exactly which order and address data is shared and why. We record those data flows so that your record of processing activities is complete and you can demonstrate compliance with the GDPR. We only share what is needed to process the order, nothing more.
More on our security approach: information security policy and CVD policy.
- GDPR-compliant processing of order and address data, and data minimisation
- Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest
- Role-based access and least-privilege principles
- Audit logs with traceable order and stock flows
- Automatic retries and dead-letter queues to prevent lost orders
- Monitoring and alerting for anomalies
- Secrets management in line with best practice
- Documentation for your record of processing activities
Frequently asked questions about Montapacking integrations
Answers to the questions we are asked most often about Montapacking (now Monta) integrations.
A Montapacking integration is a technical link between your webshop and the Montapacking fulfilment warehouse (now Monta). Via the Monta API, your shop automatically sends new orders to the warehouse, while stock levels, shipping statuses and track & trace come back into your shop in real time. This way Monta processes your orders (picking, packing, shipping and returns) without you having to retype data manually.
Yes. Montapacking is the company that now operates under the Monta brand name; it started in 1999 as Montapacking. Searching for "Montapacking" or "Monta" refers to the same fulfilment partner. An integration built for Montapacking is therefore exactly the same integration on the Monta API. We use both names interchangeably on this page, as many webshops still use the older name.
Monta has standard integrations with Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento 2, Lightspeed, Shopware, PrestaShop, CCV Shop and Mijnwebwinkel, among others. If you run on one of those platforms, we connect to it. If you work with your own webshop, a marketplace flow or a non-standard ERP, we build a custom integration on the Monta REST API or via FTP, so that orders, stock and shipping still synchronise seamlessly.
In essence, new orders flow from your shop to Monta, and stock movements, shipping confirmations, carrier details and track & trace codes flow back. We can also include return statuses, product data (SKUs, barcodes), backorders and order changes. We determine together which data flows are needed, based on your range, carriers and the setup of your MontaPortal.
If you use a standard webshop platform that Monta already supports, the basic integration can often be set up quickly. A custom integration, for example with your own shop, special stock logic, multiple carriers or a non-standard returns flow, usually takes more time. After a short intake in which we look at your shop, product range and Monta account, we'll give you a realistic estimate.
We typically send orders to Monta in real time as soon as a customer has paid, so Monta can pick and pack them as early as possible. We pull stock and status updates in real time via webhooks where the API supports them, or via a short synchronisation interval. We build in retries and error handling so that a temporary outage never results in lost orders or incorrect stock levels.
Monta processes returns in the warehouse and records their handling. We feed that return information back to your webshop and, where relevant, your accounting software, so that stock is updated automatically and your customer service team can see which returns have arrived. This keeps you in control of refunds and keeps your stock records accurate without manual work.
Yes. Appfront regularly takes over existing integrations, including ones set up by another party. We review the API integration, data flows, error handling and logging, document the current setup and propose improvements. After that we handle adjustments, extensions and monitoring. If you're looking for our work on the current Monta brand, see our Monta integration page.
