Custom emergency lighting inspection software
Appfront builds software for installers, maintenance companies and building managers who inspect and maintain emergency lighting and escape route signage: for each building, every luminaire on the floor plan, the function tests and duration tests with their results, defects with an owner and a deadline, and a log per building that shows the installation is being maintained. So that a faulty luminaire is repaired before it is needed, and the log is ready when the fire brigade or the municipality asks for it.
What is inspection registration for emergency lighting?
Emergency lighting and escape route signage must work when the power fails. That is why the luminaires are tested periodically: briefly, to see whether they switch on, and for longer, to see whether the battery holds out. The results belong in a log, and defects must be repaired. Inspection registration software for emergency lighting keeps track of this per luminaire and per building.
In many buildings the log sits in a folder next to the installation, with handwritten ticks. An engineer tests the luminaires and notes a defect, but whether it has been repaired is recorded nowhere. An installer with hundreds of buildings does not know exactly which test is overdue where. And when the fire brigade or an insurer asks for the log, it turns out to be incomplete.
We build custom because the registration has to fit your work: which buildings and installations you manage, which types of luminaires and systems, such as central or decentralised power supply or self-testing luminaires, how often you test, which standards and agreements you follow, and what your reports should look like. Which requirements apply to your buildings is something you determine with your adviser or the competent authority.
Every luminaire in view
For each building, every luminaire on the floor plan, with its type, location and a QR code to scan during the test.
Tests with results
Function tests and duration tests scheduled and recorded per luminaire, with the result and who carried it out.
From defect to repair
A defect with a photo, owner and deadline, until it is repaired and retested, visible in the log.
How we build your inspection registration for emergency lighting
We start with one building: how many luminaires, which system, how testing is done now, and what the log looks like.
Your buildings, installations and luminaires, the test frequencies, the standards and agreements, and your reports.
Luminaires on the floor plan with type and location, and a QR code per luminaire.
Recording tests per luminaire on the phone, defects with a photo and owner, repair and retest.
The log per building, reports, integration with maintenance and invoicing, and then ongoing support.
What inspection registration for emergency lighting does in practice
The components below come up in almost every emergency lighting registration. Which ones you need depends on your buildings and installations.
Luminaire register
All luminaires per building, with type, location, system and installation date.
Floor plan
Luminaires on the floor plan, so the engineer can find them and nothing gets missed.
Test scheduling
Function tests and duration tests scheduled per building, with an alert when a test is overdue.
Registration
The result per luminaire, with QR code scanning and a photo when a defect is found.
Defects
Defects with an owner and deadline, repair and retest, until the luminaire works again.
Log
A logbook per building with all tests, defects and repairs, ready for inspection.
Who we build emergency lighting inspection registration for
The software is intended for anyone who inspects or manages emergency lighting and currently keeps the logbook on paper.
Electrical installers
Maintenance contracts with many clients. Scheduling and reports per client are the core.
Inspection companies
Inspections for owners and insurers. Registration per luminaire matters most.
Facilities managers
Own buildings with a duty to keep a logbook. The logbook and the defects are what you need.
Schools and care institutions
Buildings with many people who need to get out quickly. Tracking defects through to repair is the core.

Why Appfront for your emergency lighting inspection registration?
Nobody notices emergency lighting that doesn't work until it's dark. That's what we build on: every luminaire tested, every defect repaired, and a logbook that is accurate.
Nothing missed
Luminaires are on the floor plan and get scanned. Anything that hasn't been tested stands out.
Defects repaired
A defect stays visible until it has been repaired and retested.
Logbook ready
At an inspection, the logbook per building is ready, complete and dated.
Security and privacy for emergency lighting inspection registration
The software contains data about buildings, installations and defects, information that relates to a building's safety. Access is set up by role: the engineer sees their own jobs, the client only their own buildings.
The software works on a phone even without signal in basements and stairwells, and syncs later. The data is stored in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily backups.
Frequently asked questions about emergency lighting inspection registration
Questions that installers and building managers ask before getting started.
It keeps track of all luminaires per building on the floor plan, schedules function tests and duration tests, records the result per luminaire, tracks defects through to repair, and produces a logbook and reports.
The Dutch Building Decree (Besluit bouwwerken leefomgeving) determines which buildings need emergency lighting. Standards such as NEN-EN 1838 and NEN-EN 50172 are used for design and maintenance. What applies to your buildings is something you establish with your adviser or the competent authority.
Yes, provided the system makes the test results available. The results then go into the logbook automatically, and the engineer only tests what is necessary.
Yes. The engineer scans the QR code and records the test, even in a basement or stairwell, and the data is synced later.
They appear on the building's floor plan, with a QR code on every fitting. That way nothing gets skipped.
If you want that, the client sees their own buildings, tests and defects in a portal, or receives a report per period.
Check that first. A general app with checklists is enough for a few buildings. Custom software makes sense if you have many buildings and fittings, if fittings need to be placed on floor plans, or if defects through to repair and the logbook per building are central to your work.
Every fitting tested, and a logbook that's ready when you need it?
Tell us how many buildings and fittings you inspect or manage, and how you currently test and record. We'll show you what the register, the tests and the logbook would look like.
