Recipe and raw material batch per production batch Extruder settings and measured values recorded Certificate per delivery from the same data

Building compound registration software for plastics

A compound is only as good as what went into it and how it was made. If you have to trace that per batch through a recipe folder, an extruder log and a spreadsheet of lab values, you lose time with every complaint and every audit. Appfront builds compound registration software: recipe, raw material batches, settings, measured values and certificate per production batch, in one place and retrievable in a few clicks.

What is compound registration software in the plastics industry?

Compounding batch recording software captures how a compound was made for each production batch: which recipe in which version, which batches of polymer, filler, pigment and additives went in, how much recycled material it contains, what settings the extruder ran on, and what values the lab measured. From that data come the release, the customer's certificate and the traceability if a problem turns up later.

At many compounders that information is scattered. The recipe sits in a folder or in the ERP, the dosing values on the control panel, the lab results in a spreadsheet and the raw material batches on a paper slip at the line. When a complaint or an audit comes in, the search begins, and the certificate is copied over by hand, with the risk of a typo in exactly the figure the customer cares about.

We build custom software because every compounder works differently. The number of lines, the way you dose, the lab tests per product, the requirements of customers in automotive, packaging or construction, and the share of recycled material all determine what needs to be recorded per batch. A general ERP knows an article and a stock level, but rarely the recipe version, the dosing deviation and the melt index of batch 4.

How we build your compounding batch recording software for the plastics industry

We start with your line: which recipes you run, how you dose, which tests the lab performs and what your customers ask for on the certificate. Then we build a first version with batch recording and the integration with recipes and raw material batches, because that is where most of the questions arise. You work with it for a while on one or two lines. The lab, the release, the certificate and the integrations with ERP and process control follow once that goes well. After that, we keep the software up to date as your recipes or customer requirements change.

What compounding batch recording software for the plastics industry actually does

The components below appear at almost every compounder. Which ones you need depends on your products and your customers.

Recipes

With versions and approval.

Raw material batches

Used per production batch.

Recycled material

Share and origin per batch.

Process data

Who we build compounding batch recording software for in the plastics industry

The software is intended for companies that compound in-house and need to be able to show, per batch, what is in it and how it was made. The more recipes, lines and customer requirements you have, the more it delivers.

Compounders

Engineering and filled compounds.

Masterbatch

Colour and additives.

Recyclers

Regranulate and compound.

Processors

With their own compounding line.

Why Appfront for your compounding batch recording software for the plastics industry?

A complaint that cannot be traced, a certificate with a typo or an audit that takes days of searching costs a compounder customers and margin. That is what we build around: every batch fully recorded, lab results linked to the batch, and a certificate generated from the same data.

Fast tracing

From complaint to raw material.

No retyping

Certificate from the batch.

Audit-ready

Everything traceable per batch.

Security and privacy in compounding batch record software for the plastics industry

The software contains your formulations, and these are often the most valuable asset a compounder has. Access is set up per role: an operator sees the instructions for their batch, not the whole formulation library, and every change to a formulation is recorded with a name and timestamp.

The software runs in a European data centre or in your own environment, with encrypted storage and daily backups. Customers only see their own certificates, and we record the processing in an agreement.

Frequently asked questions about compounding batch record software for the plastics industry

Questions compounders ask before getting started.

Recording, for each production batch, how a compound was made: formulation and version, raw material batches used, recycled content, extruder settings and lab measurements. This lets you release a batch, create a certificate and later trace where a deviation came from.

Yes. The ERP keeps track of items, orders and stock, while the compounding registration software handles the details per batch. Orders and items come from the ERP, and the released batch with its weight and batch number goes back. This way nobody has to enter anything twice.

If the control system or a data collection system can supply the data, we include temperatures, screw speed and dosing values per batch. If that is not possible, the operator records the key values on a tablet at the line. We look at which route fits in the first step.

Each batch of recycled material gets its own number with its origin and, if you have one, the associated declaration. The software calculates how much recycled material each production batch contains and includes this on the certificate, so you can substantiate a claim about the recycled content.

Yes. For each customer or product, we define which properties appear on the certificate and in what form. The values come directly from the lab registration for that batch, so nothing is retyped.

The software compares every measurement with the product's limits. If a value falls outside them, the batch stays blocked until someone with the right role decides: reject, rework or release with a deviation. That decision is recorded together with the reason.

For compounders with multiple formulations, lines and customer requirements, and for recyclers who must demonstrate what is in each batch. If you make a few standard products for a few customers and your ERP is enough, custom software is not needed, and we will tell you so.
