Custom construction safety plan app development
Appfront builds apps for contractors and safety coordinators who want to manage and demonstrate construction and demolition safety for the surrounding area. The risk matrix from the application is the starting point, the construction safety plan sets out the measures, and on site it is checked that they are in place. Changes to the plan are recorded and shared with everyone who needs to know, including the competent authority.
What is an app for the construction safety plan?
Building and demolition work concerns not only safety on site but also the surrounding area: passers-by, neighbours, roads and adjacent buildings. Under the Environment and Planning Act, the Buildings Decree requires you to consider these risks early on. The application or notification for the construction activity must include a risk matrix and, depending on the outcome, a construction or demolition safety plan and a safety coordinator for the surrounding area.
In practice, the construction safety plan is a document drawn up with the application and then disappears into a folder. On site, not everyone knows which measures it contains. A phase changes, a crane is moved, but the plan is not updated. Inspections are not recorded, and when there is an incident or a question from the regulator, there is little to show.
We build custom because construction companies differ: which projects they do, how the plan is made, who checks it, and which systems you use. The requirements that apply to your project follow from the Bbl (Dutch Building Decree), the national guideline on construction and demolition safety and the competent authority; if in doubt, check with your adviser. The app makes sure the plan is put into practice on site.
From matrix to plan
The risk matrix from the application as the starting point, and the plan with risks and measures for the surrounding area.
Inspection on site
Check per measure that it is in place, with photos, and follow up deviations until they are resolved.
Changes shared
A new version of the plan whenever something changes, shared with subcontractors and the competent authority.
How we build your app for the construction safety plan
We start with your projects: how the risk matrix is currently completed, who prepares the plan, who inspects on site, and how contact with the competent authority works. We also look at what goes wrong when a phase changes. That is often where the greatest risk lies, and where the app should make the difference.
Your projects, roles, current plans and contact with the competent authority.
The risk matrix, the plan, the measures and the phasing.
Inspections on site with photos, and follow-up of deviations.
Versions of the plan, sharing, and ongoing management afterwards.
What an app for the construction safety plan actually does
The components below feature in almost every construction safety plan. Which ones you need depends on your projects.
Risk matrix
The outcome from the application or notification.
Plan
Risks and measures for the surrounding area.
Phasing
Measures per phase of the work.
Checks
On site, with photos.
Deviations
Followed up until resolved.
Versions
Changes recorded and shared.
For whom we build an app for the construction safety plan
The app is intended for those who manage or inspect construction and demolition safety.
Main contractors
Inner-city projects. Inspections are the core.
Demolition companies
Demolition next to occupied buildings. The plan matters most.
Coordinators
Multiple projects at once. Oversight is what is needed.
Supervisors
Inspection on behalf of the municipality. Access is central.

Why choose Appfront for your construction safety plan app?
A plan sitting in a folder protects no passer-by. That is what we build on: from matrix to plan, measures checked on site, and changes everyone knows about.
A living plan
Measures are known on site.
Demonstrable
Inspections with photos recorded.
Updated
Every phase has the right plan.
Security and privacy for a construction safety plan app
The app holds project data, drawings and sometimes details about neighbours. Access is set up per role and per project, and the competent authority or a subcontractor only sees what has been shared with them.
The app also works without signal on the construction site and sends inspections as soon as there is a connection. Data is stored in a European data centre, with encrypted storage and daily backups.
Frequently asked questions about a construction safety plan app
Questions contractors ask before getting started.
It takes the risk matrix over from the application, helps you draw up and maintain the construction or demolition safety plan, has measures on site checked with photos, tracks deviations, and shares changes with subcontractors and the competent authority.
This follows from the risk matrix that belongs to the application or notification for the construction activity, and from what the competent authority requires. Confirm which requirements apply to your project with your adviser or the competent authority.
Worker safety on the site falls under the Working Conditions rules and the V&G plan. The construction safety plan concerns the surroundings: passers-by, neighbours, roads and adjacent buildings. The app can keep both side by side, but this part is about the environment.
For each measure it states what must be in place, for example a barrier or a safety net. The site manager or coordinator checks in the app, with a photo, and reports a deviation if something is missing. The deviation stays open until it is resolved.
Yes, if you wish. The competent authority can be given access to the plan, the versions and the inspections. That way a document does not have to be sent with every question.
A change to the plan becomes a new version, showing what has changed. Anyone who needs to know receives a notification, and inspections on site follow the new version.
Check that first. Some construction project packages include safety modules, and these may be sufficient. Custom development makes sense if the plan is currently a document in a folder, if inspections are not recorded, or if you want to share with the competent authority.
