The best private cloud providers in the Netherlands (2026)

Are you looking for dedicated, single-tenant infrastructure under your own control? We set out the leading Dutch private cloud providers, with their strengths and points to watch.

Private cloudIndependent overviewFor clients

What is a private cloud?

A private cloud is cloud infrastructure deployed exclusively for a single organisation: single-tenant, often on dedicated hardware or in a segregated environment. This gives you more control, predictable performance and tighter security than a shared public cloud. Unlike a sovereign cloud, the focus is not necessarily on jurisdiction, but on isolation and management.

How this list came about

We mapped the Dutch landscape using publicly available sources (industry reporting, data centre and provider websites), and included only providers with a demonstrable Dutch profile. We link to each provider so you can compare for yourself; this is an ordered overview, not a ranking with invented scores.

Which private cloud provider suits you?

If security and compliance are the priority, look at Solvinity or Intermax. If you want managed high availability with VMware, Cyso is strong. Looking for something else?

What should you look for in a private cloud provider?

Green flags
  • A clear single-tenant or dedicated architecture
  • Managed options with clear SLA commitments
  • Certifications that fit your sector
  • Own data centres and transparency about location
Red flags
  • A "private" cloud that is in practice shared infrastructure
  • Unclear management and responsibilities
  • Strong lock-in with no migration path
  • No transparency about data location

Private cloud and your applications

Choosing a private cloud is step one; getting your applications to run well on it is step two. Especially when migrating from VMware or a public cloud, a considered approach at application level pays off. Appfront helps you migrate, modernise and, where necessary, rebuild your software so that it runs reliably on your private cloud.

Frequently asked questions about private cloud

With a private cloud, the infrastructure runs exclusively for one organisation (single-tenant), often on dedicated hardware. A public cloud shares infrastructure between many customers. A private cloud offers more control, isolation and predictable performance; a public cloud is generally more flexible and quicker to scale.

No. Private is about isolation (single-tenant, your own environment); sovereign is about jurisdiction (data and control under Dutch or European law). A private cloud can be sovereign, but it is not automatically so. See our overview of sovereign cloud providers.

Organisations with strict requirements for security, compliance or predictable performance, or with applications that do not fit well in a shared public cloud. Think healthcare, finance, government and businesses with heavy, stable workloads.

Appfront is a software and app agency, not a hosting provider. We build and migrate the applications that run on a private cloud and advise on how it is set up; the infrastructure itself is supplied by the private cloud provider you choose.

That depends on the scale, the service level (managed or self-service) and your compliance requirements. Ask the providers in this overview for a quote based on your specific workload.

Why Appfront?

Appfront is an independent software and app studio based in Amsterdam. We are not a hosting provider or data centre ourselves; we build, migrate and modernise applications, and give independent advice on provider and architecture choices. This way we match the right infrastructure to software that runs well on it.

What this article is and isn't

This is an independent, editorial overview compiled by Appfront based on public sources. It is not a paid ranking, nor advice tailored to your specific situation. Appfront does not provide cloud hosting itself; we build and migrate the applications that run on it.
